While GPU prices have gone down in recent months, upgrading their PC is still a bridge too far for many folks. Fortunately, Harry Potter fans still rocking old hardware just got some good news — the minimum specs required to run Hogwarts Legacy have been announced, and they look relatively reasonable, even for people with veritable toasters. Apparently, a GPU and CPU from 2015 should be able to squeeze 30FPS out of the game (on Low Quality settings), so even if you’ve got a PC like one of the Hogwarts school brooms, you should be OK.
Here are the Hogwarts Legacy Minimum/Low & Recommended/High hardware requirements:
OS – 64-bit Windows 10
CPU – Intel Core i5-6600 (3.3GHz) or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 (3.2 GHz)
CPU – Intel Core i7-10700K (3.80GHz) or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (3.80 GHz)
RAM – 32 GB
GPU – NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT
DirectX – DX 12
Storage – 85 GB SSD
Notes – 2460p/60fps, Ultra Quality Settings
For fans who don’t quite have the hardware to run the game even on low settings, you’ll have to hope you have a Professor McGonagall in your life preparing to gift you the PC equivalent of a Firebolt.
Hogwarts Legacy releases February 10th, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game will release later in the year for last gen consoles and switch — April 4th for PS4 and Xbox One, and July 25th for Nintendo Switch.
