Professor Garlick is going to teach you a very useful spell, Wingardium Leviosa, but first you have to do a couple assignments. Be ready to spend some money and use plants to fight enemies.
Acquire and Use a Mandrake on Multiple Enemies Simultaneously
The hardest part of this quest is finding where you can buy the supplies. If you haven’t explored Hogsmeade thoroughly, then you might not know where Dogweed and Deathcap is located. It’s the building the farthest north on the Hogsmeade map. Thankfully, you’ll only have to make two purchases here for both of the assignments, but they are fairly expensive.
Here’s what you’ll be needing to buy for the quest:
Mandrake (1)—500 galleons
Venomous Tentacula (1)—600 galleons
There’s probably a good reason why it’s on the outskirts of town
If you’re like me, and you showed up without much gold, there is a disillusionment chest in the shop that will give you 500 galleons. You might also evaluate if you want to buy the seeds instead. If you’re going for a build that focuses on herbology, then you’ll want to keep your items stocked. Planting your own seeds and harvesting them instead of buying items will be more economical in the long term. Keep in mind though that you will still need to purchase a large potting table spellcraft at Tomes and Scrolls in order to plant Venomous Tentacula Seeds.
Here’s the price of those seeds:
Mandrake Seeds—800 galleons
Venomous Tentacula Seeds—1050 galleons
Acquire and Use Venomous Tentacula (and Mandrake)
You remembered to buy Venomous Tentacula at the store, right? Good. Now it’s as simple as finding a couple of enemies and unleashing your lethal plants on them. You can go anywhere for this; we went to San Bakar’s Tower and found a trio of goblins to dispatch.
To use the items, hold to bring up the item wheel and use the right thumb stick to select the item you want to use, then tap to use the item. Make sure that you are standing by at least two enemies when you use the Mandrake to complete that assignment. Also, you can throw Venomous Tentacula at the stunned enemies and complete both assignments on one group.

Attend Herbology Class During the Day
Fast Travel to the Greenhouses Floo Flame location. You can follow the marker, or head to the greenhouse on the left where class is normally held. If it’s nighttime, you will need to stand in the circle and tap / to wait. On the other hand, you can also go to your map and press the button to wait till daytime.
Class will start, then shortly afterward you can talk to Professor Garlick. Upon chatting with her and doing the mini-game, you will learn the spell Wingarium Leviosa and finish the quest.
