WB Games has announced that custom mods are coming to the PC version of Hogwarts Legacy on January 30th with support for custom content, including new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins.
It’s worth noting that this is a free update being added to the game and not a paid DLC and that mods will support Hogwarts Legacy that was purchased from either Steam or the Epic Games Store. Mods are not currently supported for the console versions of Hogwarts Legacy.
Our free PC Modding Support Update will be coming to Hogwarts Legacy on January 30th. What magic will you create?
They’ve added support pages for players and mod authors to expand upon the options available and how to use them.
Modding in games is the process of modifying game content, features or assets. With the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit, modders can create custom content, including new quests, dungeons, and character enhancements such as cosmetics and skins, which PC players (on Steam and Epic Games Store) can access and download from in the game. The Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit is available for free on the Epic Games Store.
They’ve also published Moderation Guidelines for Hogwarts Legacy mods so don’t expect anything controversial or questionable to be available. However their guidelines also mention that mods must be available to all players for free and can’t be sold or charged for.
What Kind of Mods Will Be Available

How to Use & Install Mods
Players can add mods to their game by installing mods through a new Play Mods section in the game, but in order to do so you must have your Steam or Epic Games Store account linked with a WB Games account.
When you’re playing a save that has mods installed you should note that achievements are disabled for that save.
Players can link their Steam or Epic Games Store account with their Warner Bros. Games Account by clicking here. A Steam or Epic Games Store account linked to a Warner Bros. Games Account will be required to access official Hogwarts Legacy mods.
Below are the steps for installing and using a mod:
Launch Hogwarts Legacy.
From the Main Menu, select Play Mods.
Under the Browse tab, search for and install the preferred mod.
Go to the Enable Mods tab and select a save to apply the mods. Saves that do not have an installed mod applied will be highlighted with an exclamation mark. Mods will be marked in the numeric order in which they are enabled.
After enabling a mod, select “Apply Changes”.
A prompt will appear with the choice to “Apply Changes” or “Apply Changes and Continue”.
Players can load their Modded Saves from this Enable Mods menu. Enabling new mods will require players to load shaders before being able to play.
If for any reason you’re having an issue with a mod you can try to get support for it by using the Ask for Help feature on the WB Games website.

How to Create & Publish Mods
Mod authors will need to connect your Curseforge and WB Games account in order to publish them directly into Hogwarts Legacy for players to find in the Play Mods section of the game.
From there you will need to use the Hogwarts Legacy Creator Kit to create the mod and then use the “Upload to CurseForge” widget inside the editor to test it in-game.
Curseforge has published their own dedicated section for Hogwarts Legacy with additional information for mod creators at hogwartslegacy.curseforge.com with additional support information in their support area.
WB Games also has a helpful Authors FAQ page on their site with additional information.

If I'm not working or spending time with the family I'm probably gaming. Some of my favorite recent games I've played are Far Cry 5, World of Warcraft Classic, and 7 Days to Die.
