The Mountaintops of the Giants, a frozen and desolate land, contains only a handful of dungeons hidden beneath its icy expanse. Though few, these dungeons offer intense battles, rare rewards, and lore-rich discoveries. This guide covers all the dungeons in the Mountaintops of the Giants and what to expect inside them. If you’re looking for a walkthrough of the Mountaintops of the Giants, head here.
Mountaintops of the Giants Dungeons
Despite their name, the Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs are not particularly massive, but they are packed with enemies and traps designed to wear players down. The dungeon is structured like a maze, with multiple elevators and hidden pathways that lead to secret areas. Gargoyle imps lurk in dark corners, often ambushing players as they navigate narrow hallways. Environmental hazards include frost-spewing traps and guillotines, requiring careful movement to avoid unnecessary damage. Players will also encounter Erdtree Burial Watchdogs as regular enemies, which can pose significant threats if engaged carelessly.
Exploration rewards patience with valuable upgrade materials like Grave and Ghost Gloveworts, as well as the
Fire Monk Ashes and a
Ritual Pot. The dungeon’s ultimate challenge is an Ulcerated Tree Spirit, a highly aggressive boss that drops a
Golden Seed upon defeat. Additionally, the
Glovewort Picker’s Bell Bearing [2] and a
Deathroot can be found here, making the dungeon well worth the effort. With its mix of tough enemies, environmental hazards, and hidden loot, the Giant’s Mountaintop Catacombs test both awareness and endurance.
Spiritcaller Cave, found on the western edge of the Freezing Lake, is filled with spiritcaller snails that summon spectral enemies. Killing the snails instantly removes their summons, making them the priority in each encounter.
The boss fight features a Spiritcaller Snail that summons a Godskin Apostle and then a Godskin Noble. Defeating it rewards the
Black Flame Ritual incantation and the
Godskin Swaddling Cloth talisman.
The Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave is a relatively simple dungeon, especially compared to the other chariot-filled hero’s graves. Shadow enemies make up most of the threats here, requiring players to lure them into light sources to become vulnerable. Fire monks and other enemies guard valuable loot, including the
Giant’s Seal and the
Cranial Vessel Candlestand. Careful movement and awareness of the dungeon’s light mechanics make clearing it much easier.
The final challenge is the Ancient Hero of Zamor, a recurring foe known for its frost-based attacks. Players who prepare fire damage will have an easier time handling its agile movements and icy strikes. Defeating it rewards the
Zamor Curved Sword and the full
Zamor armor set, making this a worthwhile stop in the Mountaintops.
- Unique Rewards:
- Questlines:
Castle Sol, found on the northern edge of the Mountaintops of the Giants, is a fortress filled with spectral warriors and harsh snowstorms. The outer courtyard is patrolled by two Lion Guardians, while the upper ramparts are guarded by soldiers with explosive ballistas and throwing pots. Careful movement and patience are key to surviving these sections, especially when avoiding ranged attacks. Hidden throughout the castle are valuable items, including the
Eclipse Shotel, the
Cerulean Amber Medallion +1, and a second
Stormhawk Axe.
The true prize here is the
Haligtree Secret Medallion (Left), found after defeating the boss, Commander Niall. A powerful foe, Niall summons spectral knights to aid him, making the fight chaotic. However, overcoming him opens the way to the castle’s final rewards. Shortcuts can be unlocked throughout, making retries easier, and with careful navigation, Castle Sol provides both a rewarding challenge and crucial progress toward uncovering the game’s deepest secrets.
