Finger Ruins of Dheo Walkthrough – Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

The Finger Ruins of Dheo are fairly sparse, even more so than the Finger Ruins of Rhia. However, there’s a major questline that requires you travel to this area, and it’s pretty neat to look at the giant stone fingers. If you like enemies that knock you off of Torrent and stop you from moving, these finger ruins also have that going for them.

The Finger Ruins of Dheo are accessed from Scaduview, which in turn is reached via the back half of Shadow Keep, AKA the Church District. It’s a bit complicated, so let’s go over all the steps:

  • From the Church District Highroad site of grace in eastern Scadu Altus, head northwest, through the tunnel, to reach the Church District.
  • Find the bridge that leads to the Specimen Storehouse, Rear. In the rear of the storehouse, you’ll be able to reach the rafters, and from there, access a stone elevator that takes you down to the back gate.
  • From the Shadow Keep, Back Gate site of grace, go into the room to the southeast and use the O, Mother gesture in front of the statue to open a secret passage.
  • Follow the passage to the area full of flowers, Scaduview, where you’ll find the Hinterlands site of grace.
  • Continue east over the bridge to the the Hinterland Bridge site of grace.
  • Go further east on the path to the Fingerstone Hill site of grace. The path will turn slowly south, and you’ll head steadily downhill until you enter the Finger Ruins of Dheo.

For details on this path, see the Shadow Keep and Scaduview walkthroughs.

There are a few things to do in Scaduview, especially right near the border of Scaduview and the Finger Ruins of Dheo. Make sure to activate the Fingerstone Hill site of grace, as you don’t want to have to ride all the way back from the start of the area if you get killed in the finger ruins.

Before you bother coming here, make sure you’ve spoken with Count Ymir in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, found in eastern Scadu Altus. From him, you can receive the Hole-Laden Necklace and the Ruins Map — you need the necklace in order to interact with the hanging bells in the Finger Ruins, as part of Ymir’s quest. If you have the Hole-Laden Necklace, you’re ready to head to the Finger Ruins of Dheo.

As we alluded to in the intro, there isn’t much to do here — but what is here is important to the quest discussed above. In the center of the finger ruins (Image 1) is the hanging bell. Hug the right-hand cliff wall as you head downhill, and try to avoid the enemies here. If you are spotted, make sure you dash diagonally on Torrent so that their spells don’t hit you — you’ll be temporarily stunned, easy prey for any nearby foes.

Approach it, and so long as you have the Hole-Laden Necklace in your inventory, you’ll be able to interact with the hanging bell (Image 2). You’ll see a pop-up to “Sound hanging bell” when you get close enough; just press the interact button, and after you’re done blowing you’ll receive the Cerulean Seed Talisman +1.

Once you’ve sounded the bell, you can head back to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr in Scadu Altus to continue Count Ymir’s questline. Next stop, more Finger Ruins!
