Caelid, a rotting wasteland consumed by Scarlet Rot and ruin, is home to some of Elden Ring’s most treacherous dungeons. From diseased tunnels to nightmarish catacombs, each dungeon is filled with grotesque creatures and brutal challenges. In the list below, you can find walkthroughs for various dungeons in regions. Caelid Dungeons
The Minor Erdtree Catacombs is a winding, trap-filled dungeon featuring imps, Scarlet Rot, and hidden paths. Right from the entrance, you’ll need to keep an eye out for ambushes, as the imps here love to drop from ceilings or hide around corners. The first major route leads to the dungeon’s lever, but not before you fend off multiple imp attacks, including one throwing knives from a distance. Once the lever is pulled, unlocking the boss room, it’s time to explore the remaining areas of the dungeon.
A side path leads to a Scarlet Rot-infested chamber where Skeletal Slimes drop from the ceiling, while an imp above hurls explosive pots. Another hidden route beneath the lift takes you to more rot-filled rooms and a ladder leading to the
Imp Head (Wolf) armor piece. After navigating through ambushes, deadly pools of Scarlet Rot, and hidden enemies, you’ll be ready to face the dungeon’s bosses: the Mad Pumpkin Head Duo, who upon defeat, reward you with their
Mad Pumpkin Head Ashes.
Gael Tunnel is a short mine dungeon, featuring plenty of upgrade materials and two highly sought-after weapons. Right at the entrance, soldiers stand guard, but their turned backs make for easy backstabs before dropping into the tunnels below. The first site of grace is just ahead, and from there, you’ll have a choice: head straight toward the boss room or explore side paths for valuable loot. A detour to the right rewards you with the
Cross-Naginata, requiring you to navigate past soldiers and a giant land octopus. Another side path beneath a wooden platform holds additional smithing stones and a
Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. With the dungeon thoroughly looted, the main tunnel leads straight to the boss chamber, where the Magma Wyrm awaits. Be sure to unlock the nearby site of grace before engaging in battle—defeating the wyrm will reward you with the legendary
Moonveil katana.
Scarlet Rot is the main obstacle in the Abandoned Cave, making traversal more dangerous than the enemies. Bringing items or spells to counter rot buildup is highly recommended. The dungeon requires moving through rot-filled waters while avoiding ambushes from enemies lurking in the darkness. Along the way, you’ll find the
Serpent Bow and the
Venomous Fang, both useful weapons for specific builds.
Deeper inside, a large flower enemy and multiple ledge enemies create another hazard before the final boss room. The dungeon culminates in a fight against the Cleanrot Knight Duo, a tough encounter that rewards the lucrative
Gold Scarab, an amulet that boosts rune acquisition.
Fort Gael is a compact dungeon with only a handful of enemies but some worthwhile loot and a shortcut to Redmane Castle. After climbing inside, you can take out a soldier and open the main gate before dropping down to a lower section to grab the
Katar from a chest. The fort’s most dangerous enemy is a lion-like beast in the courtyard, which can be fought head-on or weakened from above using ranged attacks. If necessary, you can also bait it outside the main gate, where it won’t be able to follow. Defeating it rewards the
Ash of War: Lion’s Claw.
With the courtyard clear, you can ascend to the fort’s upper level, where a few more soldiers guard the
Starscourge Heirloom. A final enemy, tougher than the others, will emerge near the tower at the top, so dealing with the soldiers separately is wise. Once the fort is cleared, climbing the tower leads to a waygate that teleports you straight to Redmane Castle, making this a useful stop for those progressing through Caelid.
The War-Dead Catacombs, accessible after defeating Radahn, is a chaotic dungeon where spectral soldiers endlessly fight each other. The dungeon is filled with Scarlet Rot, making traversal tricky without the right tools, such as
Flame, Cleanse Me or
Preserving Boluses. Stealth can be useful in avoiding unnecessary fights, as the spirits will often be too preoccupied fighting one another to focus on you. Key loot includes the
Collapsing Stars sorcery and
Radahn’s Soldier Ashes, while the dungeon’s lever is found after navigating past multiple spirit knights and archers.
The boss of this dungeon is an Ulcerated Tree Spirit that inflicts Scarlet Rot, making it even more dangerous than usual. Defeating it grants
Redmane Knight Ogha and a
Golden Seed, making this dungeon a worthy stop for players looking to enhance their Spirit Ashes and flask usage. While the dungeon’s design and combat encounters are hectic, smart navigation and patience can help you get through without unnecessary frustration.
The Gaol Cave is a small but dangerous dungeon, accessible with two
Stonesword Keys. As the name suggests, it’s a cave-turned-prison filled with vulgar militia and explosive undead. The dungeon is fairly linear, with the main hazard being ambushes from enemies positioned around corners and above doorways. Expect multiple surprise attacks, particularly near the locked cells and the chamber with the bookshelves. A key moment in the dungeon is triggering a lever that unlocks both the boss room and previously sealed cells, which then release flaming corpses that can be dealt with by baiting their explosions from a safe distance.
Loot throughout the dungeon includes the
Wakizashi, a unique dagger-sword hybrid, and a
Pillory Shield found in the now-accessible cells. The final section leads to the Frenzied Duelist boss, who drops the
Putrid Corpse Ashes upon defeat. Once the boss is down, an exit leads to a hidden area in Limgrave where players can claim the
Regalia of Eochaid, a flashy arcane-scaling weapon.
The Caelid Catacombs is a short but hazardous dungeon filled with skeletons, aggressive flowers, and pools of Scarlet Rot. While loot is relatively scarce, the dungeon contains a good amount of
Grave Violets and
Grave Glovewort for Spirit Ash upgrades. The biggest threats here are the Scarlet Rot-infested waters, which will coat your character in rot buildup if you roll through them. The dungeon also contains several illusory walls, one of which hides the
Miranda Sprout Ashes and another concealing the lever needed to access the boss.
As you make your way through, you’ll need to navigate past flower enemies that lack mobility but can release rot clouds. Skeletons also wait in ambush, particularly in tight corridors. In the final section, a large flower blocks the way forward, but it can be ignored if you’d rather not fight it. Behind it lies a hallway leading to the final room, where another illusory wall conceals the lever that opens the path to the Cemetery Shade boss. Defeating it rewards you with the
Kindred of Rot Ashes.
The Sellia Crystal Tunnel is a challenging dungeon found on the northern edge of the Swamp of Aeonia, and one you can find yourself teleported to from Limgrave. It features the Lesser Kindred of Rot, dangerous enemies with fast melee attacks and difficult-to-dodge ranged projectiles. However, it offers plenty of Smithing Stones, Somber Smithing Stones, and—most importantly—the
Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1], which allows you to buy unlimited
Somber Smithing Stone [1] and
[2].
Navigating the dungeon requires patience, as the Lesser Kindred of Rot patrol among passive miners. The best approach is to take out the pests before dealing with the miners and collecting loot. The dungeon has multiple vertical levels, including wooden scaffolding and ledges that require careful platforming. Notable finds include the
Rock Blaster sorcery and the
Faithful’s Canvas Talisman, which boosts incantations. At the end, the Fallingstar Beast awaits—a fast and aggressive boss that demands precise dodging and patience. Defeating it rewards the Somberstone Miner’s Bell Bearing [1].

- Questline:
Sellia Hideaway is a hidden dungeon, accessible by breaking an illusory wall in Caelid. It is an important location for progressing Sorceress Sellen’s questline and contains a number of crystal formations, miners, and aggressive enemies, including a Revenant and numerous snails lying in ambush. The dungeon requires careful navigation across large crystal platforms and multiple hidden paths, some leading to valuable items like the
Crystal Spear and
Crystalian Ashes.
The dungeon culminates in a challenging boss fight against the Putrid Crystalian Trio, a group of enemies with high poise and rot-inflicting attacks. The fight can be particularly difficult without a weapon that deals Strike damage. Defeating them drops the
Crystal Torrent sorcery. Additionally, the lower floor of the dungeon contains a seal leading to the body of Master Lusat, which must be unlocked to progress Sorceress Sellen’s quest.
Dragonbarrow Cave is a short dungeon that offers a few valuable talismans, but is primarily notable for the powerful Runebear that roams its narrow tunnels. The dungeon’s design encourages stealth, as fighting the bear head-on is dangerous and unrewarding. Players can sneak through tall grass to access hidden alcoves containing a
Golden Rune [12], a
Warming Stone, and the
Bull-Goat’s Talisman, which boosts poise. The cave eventually leads to a lower area filled with wolves, though these can be avoided if players choose to head directly to the boss room.
The final challenge of the dungeon is the Beastman of Farum Azula Duo, which consists of two aggressive (but relatively simple) enemies that attack relentlessly, including one that can attack at range and disrupt you. The descent into the boss arena is a one-way drop, making preparation essential. Successfully defeating them rewards the
Flamedrake Talisman +2, an item that significantly boosts fire resistance.
