Poor Arabella. Hunted by goblins, arrested and almost killed by druids, and now separated from her parents. If you helped her before, you can help her again — and our guide will show you how.
Map
Points of Interest 1 – Arabella 2 – Arabella’s Corpse 3 – Arabella’s Parents
Background
If you side with the tieflings in Act 1, and if you protect Arabella from Kagha during the quest Save Arabella, then in Act 2 you’ll meet Arabella in Reithwin Town at the entrance to the graveyard (#1). She’ll immediately entangle two Shadows, and you’ll learn that when she (briefly) stole the Idol of Silvanus from the druids in the Emerald Grove, she learned a few things from it.
Afterwards, Arabella will tell you that she got separated from her parents Komira and Locke during the cultist ambush in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, and she’ll ask you to look for them. If you agree, then she’ll want to stay with you until you find them. If you suggest that she go to the Last Light Inn instead, then she’ll decline. If you allow her to go to your camp, then you’ll trigger this quest.
If you refuse to look for Arabella’s parents or refuse to let her stay with you, then she’ll run off, and you’ll later find her corpse in the front courtyard to the Waning Moon (#2).
Walkthrough
You won’t have to go far to track down Arabella’s parents. You’ll find them dead inside the House of Healing to the west (#3). Sister Lidwin will be “tending” to them, but you’re not required to talk to her at all. Just interacting with either of the two corpses will update the quest.
Arabella’s reaction to the bad news will depend on when you tell her:
If you learned about Arabella’s parents before meeting her, then you’ll be able to tell her right away, although if you beat a passive DC-10 Insight check, you’ll sense that she’s not ready for the news yet. For this case, you’ll need to beat a DC-14 Intimidation or Persuasion check, or beat a DC-10 Insight check to read her thoughts. If you succeed, then you’ll calm her down and she’ll agree to go to your camp. If you fail, then she’ll run off and die, just the same as if you had refused to help her.
If you tell Arabella the news at your camp, then you’ll have an easier time — because Withers will be working with her and teaching her about “balance.” However, Arabella won’t want to hear the news right away. You’ll have to take a Long Rest first to give her more time with Withers. Then when you return, Arabella will finally accept what happened, and she’ll know from Withers that the Weave has special plans for her, making her future secure.
For completing the quest, you’ll learn Arabella’s Shadow Entangle, and you’ll receive a Shadow Blade Ring.
