What’s better than using a spear to defeat your enemies? Using two spears at the same time! This straightforward build uses two powerful spears to brute force your way through any boss in the game, focusing mainly on DEX/VIG.
Starting Class
For this build, we recommend that you start off with a Vagabond. Not only does it start with a good amount of DEX and VIG, but it also starts with a halberd, allowing you to get used to the gameplay of spears right from the start.
What this Build is For
This is a build for people who want to do powerful melee damage and want to keep things simple. It uses no Talismans, no magic, and no summons, relying only on the two spears in your hands to keep pressure on enemies while you continuously stab them.
Stat Priority
- Dexterity
- Vigor
- Strength
- Endurance
- Mind
- Intelligence
- Faith
- Arcane
Weapons
- Bolt of Gransax
- One of the most powerful spears in the game — this will be your primary weapon. On top of how much damage it can deal, its Ancient Lightning Spear Skill gives you a ranged attack when needed.
- Cross-Naginata
- While this is a more basic spear, if you imbue it to become Keen and fully max out its level, it can become almost as powerful as the Bolt of Gransax, pairing nicely with it. Additionally, if you give it the Ash of War: Piercing Fang, it will help you deal with enemies that use a shield often.
Talismans
- Erdtree’s Favor +1
- A simple upgrade that will let you attack more consistently and survive for longer
- Spear Talisman
- As the name implies, this is a good boost of damage to this build: more specifically, it will boost the damage of any counterattack that you make
- Winged Sword Insignia
- Since you’re going to be attacking consistently, this Talisman will help you deal more damage the more consecutive attacks you make
- Carian Filigreed Crest
- This lowers your FP costs, allowing you to cast Ancient Lightning Spear more
Strategy
- You can start most fights with an Ancient Lightning Spear, giving you a small advantage before the fight actually begins.
- It can be used more if the enemy distances themself from you, but even with the Carian Filigreed Crest you won’t get too many casts of this before you run out of FP
- Other than this, the strategy is straightforward — stay mobile and avoid as many attacks as you can. Whenever you have an opening, attack with both spears simultaneously as many times as possible.
