💀 Rhagar, the Scourge

“the golden order buried many secrets in time and shadow, one of them crawled back.”

📖 THE LORE

Long before the Shattering, a towering warrior served as an elite vanguard champion under Lord Godfrey, bleeding on the front lines to forge Marika’s early empire. His unyielding loyalty fractured at the freezing peaks of the Giant War when Queen Marika ordered the slaughter of surrendering titans—a dishonorable mass execution that both he and Godfrey quietly resented. During the subsequent years of courtly peace in Leyndell, Rhagar openly mocked the rising golden upstart, Radagon, dismissing his rigid Fundamentalism as a superficial gimmick designed to gloss over a blood-soaked empire.

His cynicism turned to treason when Godfrey was stripped of his grace [1.3]. Refusing to let his general be discarded like a broken tool, Rhagar launched a violent, one-man mutiny on the surface of the capital, catching a brief glimpse of Messmer’s Crusade assembling before royal guards overthrew him. Stripped of his gear, he was dragged deep into the stone vaults of the Western Nameless Mausoleum to be entombed alive. But Rhagar’s raw physical power could not be bound; he snapped his iron chains, ambushed his executioner, and ripped the massive Greatsword of Solitude from the Blackgaol Knight’s hands—butchering him with his own blade.

Fleeing past the perimeter into the freezing northern realms just as the veils hid the Land of Shadow, he donned a heavy suit of insulated black iron plating, earning him a legendary moniker among the outer settlements: Rhagar the Black. Sir Gideon Ofnir’s shadow council tracked him down, deploying an elite Ravensmount Assassin to eliminate the rebel. Rhagar cleaved the killer in two but was struck by an incurable, slow-acting necrotic venom. In a final act of spite, he ripped the Skeletal Mask off the dead hunter and bound it tightly to his face—weaponizing its flesh-digging interior pain as a permanent psychological anchor to violently shock his nervous system and override the poison’s creeping lethargy. Fueled by adrenaline, he sprinted back to his village, single-handedly massacred a contingent of Leyndell Confessors led by Head Confessor Crepus, and died a true warrior’s death on his feet.

Centuries pass, the Elden Ring shatters, and Grace flares within his northern tomb. Because a Tarnished is reanimated in the exact physical state they perished, Rhagar violently snaps back to life already fully outfitted in his black iron plates and agonizing skull mask. He awakens at the Chapel of Anticipation, keeping the porcelain faceplate bound to his face for a vital tactical reason: absolute anonymity. He walks into the Roundtable Hold as a completely unrecognizable ghost. Sir Gideon Ofnir looks right at him, entirely unaware that the high-threat rebel general he spent centuries trying to assassinate is standing at his desk. Deeply embittered by his resurrection, Rhagar refuses the guidance of the Two Fingers. He moves as a faceless, lone-wolf predator—determined to butcher any demigod in his path and rip through the Lands Between to find out exactly why the Erdtree desires the service of a man who explicitly wants to see it burn to the ground.

⚔️ BUILD IDENTITY & ARSENAL

A pure physical vanguard juggernaut with a heretical sub-theme of prehistoric death, this setup blends heavy melee dominance with high-speed tactical utility. It treats incantations as raw, animalistic beast-rage, bypassing traditional golden holy arrays for heavy iron, throwing daggers, and martial arts.

  • Right Hand 1: Greatsword of Solitude — Stolen relic of pure physical crushing power. Wielded for stance counters and massive poise-breaks via Solitary Moon Slash [1.4].
  • Left Hand 1: Clawmark Seal — Handles spell output, scaling the entire incantation book directly off the heavy Strength attribute.
  • Left Hand 2: Smithscript Daggers (Heavy Infusion / Bloodhound Step) — Outer-ring evasion; allows for nimble mid-range spacing while pelting targets with throwing knives.
  • Left Hand 3: Dryleaf Arts (Heavy Infusion / Raptor of the Mists) — Inner-ring counter; enables vertical evasions that drop down into jumping heavy kicks [1.2].

📜 THE FOUR-SLOT INCA-ROTATION

Capped tightly at 4 memory slots to completely eliminate menu/cycle lag during high-stakes combat loops:

  1. Slot 1: Bestial Sling — Instant-cast, close-range physical shotgun to break enemy tracking and stall aggressive combos.
  2. Slot 2: Dragonclaw — Re-skinned as a Primal Beast Claw via Farum Azula/Beastmen lore; grants near-infinite hyper-armor mid-cast to flatten targets.
  3. Slot 3: Stone of Gurranq — Hard, long-distance boulder throw to chunk enemy posture while the stamina bar recovers.
  4. Slot 4: Black Blade — Ultimate fight opener; launches a sweeping wave of Destined Death to strip 10% off a boss’s maximum health pool instantly.

🎮 PLAYSTYLE & STANCE MECHANICS

To pilot this complex loadout seamlessly, the build utilizes the unique mechanical advantages of asymmetrical dual-wielding and input buffering rather than sequential slot cycling:

  • The Dual-Wield Utility Loop: When executing left-hand actions, you do not have to completely put away your primary weapon. By keeping the Smithscript Daggers or Dryleaf Arts in a one-handed left-hand slot, the Greatsword of Solitude remains completely active in your right hand. You can pelt a target with throwing knives or throw a rapid martial arts combination, and instantly follow up with a right-hand Greatsword strike with zero weapon-swapping lag.
  • The Juggernaut Vanguard Stance: Wielding Greatsword (Right) + Seal (Left). Use the left hand for rapid Bestial Sling pocket-sand interrupts. Buffer your inputs mid-roll to seamlessly transition into two-handing the Greatsword, instantly activating the Two-Handed Sword Talisman (+15% damage) for devastating physical block-counters and Solitary Moon Slash chunks [1.2, 1.5].
  • The Ghost Raven Stance: Triggered by quickly two-handing your left slots to unlock their mobility skills. Two-handing the Daggers grants access to Bloodhound Step to nimbly skate around boss combos while maintaining mid-range pressure. Two-handing the Dryleaf Arts unlocks Raptor of the Mists up close, letting you vanish over sweeps and reappear with a Claw Talisman-boosted (+15%) jumping heavy dive-kick [1.2].
  • UI Automation: Hold down the spell-swap d-pad button for 0.5 seconds to instantly snap your UI back to Slot 1 (Bestial Sling), completely removing menu tracking lag.
