Carian Blademaster
Build Overview
This build optimizes the Carian Sovereignty Ash of War, one of the strongest magic based ash of war in the game. It consists of an extremely long vertical slash with a massive magical sword, and a follow up sweep that together does insane damage.
Stats
Vigor is at 60 for survivability, which is important so that we can tank hits while using the skill. Mind at 24 so that you have a good amount of FP for the Ash of War, and Endurance ensures plenty of stamina. Strength is at 25 as Magic affinity will not have great strength scaling. Dex is at minimum to wield the weapon. Intelligence is the most important stat as the skill will scale off of the weapon level, intelligence, and the affinity, which magic will keep it to just intelligence. Faith is at minimum to cast our buffs.
Weapons and Armor
The Greatsword category of weapons gives us the most poise in the animation for the ash of war, and the claymore is an excellent choice thanks to its good magic scaling and piercing heavy attack that deals – well, pierce damage. The staff of the great beyond will let us cast both incants and sorceries with one slot, which is important because we have buffs from both categories of spell. If you plan on using offensive spells in this build, feel free to use a better int based staff and any other seal for buffs. The madding hand gives 7.5% extra damage after madness is procced for 20 seconds, and stacks with the other madness buffs. For armor, I use three pieces of the Rakshasa set for +6% to all damage. You could use three pieces of the spellblade set if you like, but it is the same 6% but only applies to the ash of war. The mushroom crown will give 10% damage after proccing madness and stacks with the other madness buffs.
Spells
We just use three buff spells to our damage. If you want, you can use offensive sorceries as well. I would recommend using Night Comet, a well known broken spell, and Carian Slicer, also a broken spell.
Talismans
Shard of Alexander: +15% skill or ash of war damage, so this buffs carian sovereignty
Godfrey Icon: +15% to charged skill or spell damage, and you should always be charging Carian sovereignty.
Magic Scorpion Charm: +12% to all magic damage, -10% to physical defense, but this is hardly noticeable.
Aged One’s Exultation: +20% to all damage after madness if procced. Stacks with the other madness buffs. You could also use old lord’s Talisman for longer spell buff duration, or any other talisman you find useful. But you can skip the madness buffs if you don’t use this talisman.
Buff Routine
- Cast Howl of Shabriri to build up Madness.
- Drink the Flask of Wondrous Physick for around a 40% damage increase to magic damage. Your health will start to drain.
- Use Golden Vow for 15% more damage and 11% more defense for 60 seconds.
- Switch to the madding hand in your right hand, then cast Howl of Shabriri for a +25% boost to all damage and -30% defense. If this doesn’t proc madness, use it again. Once it does, you will get around 40% extra damage for 20 seconds.
- Refill FP and Hp as needed.
- Enter the fight, and find a convenient place to put Terra Magica.
- Find an opening, then use the Ash of War and destroy the boss.
How to Use this build
It’s pretty simple. You just need to find an opening to use the skill, and it most likely won’t take more than two uses of the skill to kill any boss. If you are struggling to find a time to use it, you can use the charged attacks of the weapon, and if you looked at its current stats, it will deal way more than 2000 damage, and that’s a light attack. Its charged attacks will deal good stance damage, do pierce damage, and get closer and closer to a stance break where you can freely use the skill. With this setup, Carian Sovereignty will completely overpower every single boss in this game.
