The Mystic Theurge is a Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 Edition Prestige Class which combines arcane and divine spellcasting progression. The way Baldur’s Gate 3 handles the Wizard’s spellbook enables the execution of this concept. A Wizard can inscribe spells from scrolls into her spellbook so long as she has a spell slot of high enough level. Once recorded, she can then prepare the spell to cast. That means that full casters can take a single level dip into Wizard to gain access to all Wizard spells for which she can find scrolls (which, unfortunately, excludes Counterspell). So despite this build showing the Mystic Theurge limited to 1st-level Wizard spells, most of the Wizard spell list to open to her after 2nd level.
Perhaps surprisingly, this Mystic Theurge build prioritizes Intelligence over Wisdom despite having only one level of Wizard. The reason for this is twofold. Firstly, the limited Wizard levels means the number of Wizard spells that can be prepared is small and very dependent upon the Mystic Theurge’s Intelligence score. Secondly, the Mystic Theurge leans more heavily on the Wizard spell list for offensive spells which are more dependent upon her spell save DC and spell attack bonus. In the end, the Mystic Theurge only ends up with 7 Wizard spells she can pepare, but given that sits on top of a slew of Cleric support spells, 7 is plenty enough to round off her offense.
In my cursory review of Google search hits, many people recommend taking only 13 Intelligence then using the Warped Headband of Intellect to temporarily boost Intelligence while preparing spells, but I prefer building the Mystic Theurge so that it can cast potent Wizard spells and prepare more of them.
For the Cleric subclass, the Nature Domain Cleric is an easy choice. The Nature Domain grants the Mystic Theurge heavy armor and several spells which appear on neither the Cleric nor the Wizard spell list. Shillelagh and Sacred Flame at 1st level provide the Mystic Theurge with viable early game melee and ranged offensive options.
Be sure to keep The Pointy Hat for Persuasion checks.
