Mystery Source Claims Elden Ring: Nightreign info Coming February 12

Insider Gaming dropped a spicy bit of news on us today, revealing that “a source familiar with the games plans” told them Nightreign information will be released February 12. While various Elden Ring leaks have been a dime a dozen since its initial announcement, Insider Gaming is a generally reliable source for these sorts of links. Not Jaschon Shreier level of accuracy, but pretty good.

The February Playstation State of Play is the same week, and so the outlet has speculated FromSoft might be making an announcement during the event. Wherever it does end up being announced, the timing makes sense, as the network test runs from February 14th through the 17th, so lots of info about the game will end up all over the internet come Valentine’s Day regardless (excellent timing for lucky poly trios who all got into the test and want a romantic evening at home on the couch).

For those who are just learning about Nightreign, it’s an Elden Ring spinoff using what appears to be the exact same engine and most of the same assets. You’ll be able to play solo or with 2 friends (no duos), battling baddies and preparing for the dangerous enemies that appear each night. Surviving until the third day lets you face the Night Lord, which sounds like it will be randomly pulled from a short list of final bosses. There will be a handful of different character types to choose from, including a mage, a warrior, and a bird-footed flappy boy — each character offers special moves and features unique to them.

The signups for the network test have closed, so if you didn’t already apply and get in, you’ll have to be patient a little longer. Hopefully, the February 12th announcement will include a release date, or at least a general sense of how much longer we have to wait! When it does arrive, it will be available on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series S|X, and PC.
