Braving the Church District of Shadow Keep will allow you to reach Scaduview, a smallish, optional region in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that is divided into two distinct sections. It’s got some pretty flowers, some familiar foes, and a few very nice items for specific builds. It’s also home to a number of very tough optional bosses, so make sure you’ve searched the rest of the map for those Scadutree Fragments before facing them.
How to Get to Scaduview
As mentioned above, there are two separate parts of Scaduview. Fortunately, both are accessed from the Shadow Keep, Back Gate site of grace, which as you may have guessed is found in Shadow Keep. Specifically, you’ll access it from the rear of the Specimen Storehouse, which in turn requires going through the Church District.
We’ll cover this in more detail below, but in short: The northern part of Scaduview is reached by going through the boss fog wall northeast of the site of grace; the eastern part of Scaduview is accessed by going into the room southeast of the site of grace, then using the O, Mother gesture in front of the statue to unlock a secret passage. If you don’t have the gesture, head to the tree behind Bonny Village in Scadu Altus.
Area Map
The map for this area is part of the Scadu Altus map, so there’s no fragment to grab. Note that the Shadow Keep, Back Gate site of grace is the entry point for both sections of Scaduview: the section with Commander Gaius and the Hinterland section.
Scaduview – North
Shadow Keep, Back Gate
Important & Unique Items
Scadutree Fragment
Despite the name of this site of grace, it is technically in Scaduview (according to the quit game menu). If you’ve been following this walkthrough, you’ve already grabbed the nearby Scadutree fragment, but if you haven’t, the room southeast of the site of grace is where you’ll find it — this is also the statue you’ll need to use the O, Mother gesture on later to access the eastern portion of Scaduview, so take note. Through the fog gate to the northeast is Commander Gaius and his faithful boar.
Once you defeat Gaius, you’ll be able to rest at the Scaduview site of grace that appears near the center of the boss arena. From there, head northwest through the archway, and keep following the path up the hill until the path splits — turn left to head west towards the little shack.
Albinauric’s Shack
Important & Unique Items
Gaius’s Greaves
Sharpshot Talisman
There’s an Albinauric riding a wolf you’ll need to take out — you’ll see it patrolling the path to the shack. It seems to try and kite you so it can fire arrows, but watch out for the ice breath the wolf has — it lingers for quite awhile. The albinauric drops Gaius’s Greaves, so don’t skip it if you want the gear. After the albinauric is down, head into the shack and grab the Sharpshot Talisman from inside the shack.
Scadutree Chalice
Important & Unique Items
x5 Scadutree Fragments
From the Albinauric’s Shack, head northeast, through the huge archway in the big wall ahead (Image 1) and approach the giant chalice. In front of the chalice you’ll be able to pick up five Scadutree Fragments — make sure you don’t miss any! There are also three piles of bones that all have the relatively rare crafting material Blessed Bone Shard. That done, we’re finished with this part of Scaduview, so you can teleport back to the Shadow Keep, Back Gate site of grace.
Scaduview – East
Shadow Keep, Back Gate
From the Shadow Keep, Back Gate site of grace, go east-southeast into the room with the statue on the far wall. Get close to the statue, then use the O, Mother gesture and wait for the statue to slide sideways, revealing a hidden room (Image 1). Continue east-southeast through the now-open passage, and make your way down the stairs until you find yourself outside. From here, you can see the Hinterlands site of grace.
Hinterlands
Important & Unique Items
x2 Blessing of Marika (boss drops)
Unless you want some Gold Fireflies, there’s no reason to take the path up the hill to the northeast (if you do want the fireflies, just follow the trail until you reach the pool indicated on the map at the start of the guide). Instead, from the Hinterlands site of grace, head southeast, around the giant crater. You’ll see a Tree Sentinel patrolling to the northeast, in front of a bridge — that’s #2. Tree Sentinel #1 will attack you as you approach the corner he’s hiding behind.
You should pull the first Tree Sentinel back up the path, towards the site of grace, to avoid having to fight both bosses at once. These bosses are identical to the ones found in the Capital Outskirts of Altus Plateau — the first one has a torch, the second a shield.
Shaman Village
Important & Unique Items
Minor Erdtree
Golden Braid
Spellmachinist’s Bell Bearing (in Rabbath’s Rise)
Head up the path indicated in Hinterlands – Image 1 above that leads to the Shaman Village. Follow the path towards the village, and you’ll see a small tree with an item at it’s base (Image 1) — grab the Minor Erdtree incantation before continuing further into the village. Bear right as you head up the hill, and get the Golden Braid talisman from the corpse-thing sitting inside the tree ahead (Image 2).
Next we’ve got a long, downward path to follow. From the tree, ride due southeast past the rocks (Image 3), and continue forward until you find the narrow path downward (Image 4). Keep hugging the right-hand cliff edge and drop down again (Image 5). From here, you’ll need to look down over the edge to find the next drop — there are too many to take pictures of them all, but past Image 5 it’s easy to find the next one — you’ll be generally making your way southeast down the side of the cliff.
Image 3Image 4Image 5
Eventually, you’ll come to a ledge where you can drop down onto the balcony of Rabbath’s Rise (Image 6) — this is a tricky jump, so make sure you save your mid-air Torrent jump until you need it. It’s easiest to simply walk off the ledge (while on Torrent) straight toward the balcony, then correct via the Torrent jump if you are going to miss.
Upon landing, go inside the tower. You can inspect the Puppet of Anna, then jump off the side of the small bridge, making sure you push yourself into the wall (Image 7) — you want to land on the outer edge of the room below, not fall through the hole. On the ledge below, you’ll find the Spellmachinist’s Bell Bearing.
Image 6Image 7
After grabbing the bell bearing, you can teleport back to the Hinterlands Bridge site of grace (assuming you’ve already looted Rabbath’s Cannon when we came here while in Scadu Altus – East).
Hinterland Bridge
Important & Unique Items
Gravitational Missile (boss drop)
The Two Fingers gesture
Fingercreeper Ashes
From the Hinterlands Bridge site of grace, follow the path that leads east-northeast past the tree, and continue down the hill. You’ll soon see a crater on your left where you can fight another familiar foe — first, however, continue downhill and generally east-southeast on the path (on the map, you’ll take the right-hand fork), and you’ll soon see the Fingerstone Hill site of grace just left of the path (Image 1).
Image 1
After grabbing the site of grace, you can head northeast to the crater to fight a Fallingstar Beast — this one drops the Gravitational Missile spell.
Next, if you want some crafting materials — x2 Fingerprint Nostrum, x3 Shadow Sunflower, and x1 Pearlescent Scale — you can head to the spot indicated below (Image 2), southwest of the Fingerstone Hill site of grace. The corpses are guarded by a bunch of small hands, and a large hand will drop down when you get near the items, so be careful and ride through quickly with Torrent.
Image 2
From the site of grace, continue down the hill on the path — just ahead are two big swarms of tiny hands, each led by a large hand. You can use Torrent to double jump over the hands and avoid combat, which is advisable. If you get too close to the hands, you’ll get stun-locked into oblivion. Past those enemies, you’ll continue downhill and come to a hand hiding in the ground — turn left here as per Image 3, continue north-northeast, drop down, and make your way to the corpse doing The Two Fingers gesture. It’s hidden behind a large finger on the ground (visible on the map).
Image 3
From the gesture, you can look east-southeast and see a coffin guarded by a few more hands — this coffin allows you to duplicate Boss Remembrances just like the mausoleums in the Lands Between. From the coffin, head due south to the cave indicated in Image 3. You’ll go around a corner (Image 4) and find the entrance (Image 5). Look before you leap — there’s a ledge you need to land on, otherwise you could fall all the way down and die.
Image 4Image 5
After landing, drop down again into the large cave, then prepare yourself — drink your flask if it has the bubble shield, or cast defensive incantations, etc. You’re going to have to either kill the giant hand that emerges as you get further into the cave, or else at least bait it off of the item in the center. If you don’t want to fight it, stay mounted and sprint away from its initial attack, then grab the Fingercreeper Ashes and gallop your way out through the hole on the eastern side of the cave. The giant hand can’t fit through the hole, so if you want you can use ranged attacks from the tunnel to take it out, but it only drops 14,785 runes.
Upon exiting the tunnel, you’ll encounter a corpse with a Shadow Realm Rune [6] — grab it, then drop down further east. From here, keep dropping down and continue southeast, and you’ll soon encounter three worm-snake-looking enemies. Ignore them and continue south through the canyon (Image 6), and keep going until you enter the Finger Ruins of Dheo!
