Advices:
ACT1
Just start with Fighter class to get level 4, 6 and 8 feats, to minimize impact from items located in Act3.
Whatever you prefer, Eldritch, Champion… Whatever you think is best to survive.
Personally I think that in early game ranged weapons are the best, specially to strike and flee tactics, so if you prefer to mix classes with Ranger, Rogue or other feel free to.
Astarion with sneaky fight start and Karlach with Returning Pike, Flinging Ring and Gloves of Uninhibited Kushigo are enough to cover main fights, with Shadowheart or Gale to cover with appropriate spells is possible to handle almost every encounter till beginning of Act3.
ACT2
Here u can find items for other types of build, Risky Ring, Snowburst Ring, Radiating Orb set, Undermountain Knife for Astarion (this already in Act1), Githyanki set and so on where you can try and have fun with item interactions (I don’t want to ruin you this game aspect).
There are tons of build to try and Withers always pleased when you pay 100 to respec.
ACT3 when items are retrieved:
Now things get serious and we can’t continue experimenting… So for my dear “Blindmind” main strategy is:
Mystic scoundrel ring grant free bonus action illusion/enchantment spell after attack, then colour spray can be casted even to the sky or invisibility if you like, then you can fly without receive opportunity atk, thanks to another bonus action granted from thief subclass and finally extra attack from fighter level 5…
Equipment and boons are chosen to freed boons/items for other party members, this build can be better with baldurans greatsword and bonespike gloves, but may be better use them on other party members to height overall party power.
Main Advantages:
- Can’t suffer from critical hits cause Adamantine Scale Mail
- Weapon is a +2 and has same dmg dice as Greatswords, bludgeoning ignore resistance embedded to free Bonespike Gloves for other party member
- Sarevok’s Helmet to rise critical chance and grant resistance to charming/fear spells
- Good attack score and bonus damage thanks to Gauntlets for better orc triple critical effect
- Stunning movement capability with huge leap distance (Athlete feat with 24 strenght grant over 45 feet jump), immunity to difficult terrain and sorc flying skill if required, last but not least infernal evasion to mitigate low bonus on saving throws and teleport with AoE fire damage
- Medium/Good initiative bonus to have better chance party members near on turn order
Last advice… If Blindmind should fall in combat, stay away or will rise and potentially attack other party members… So be sure to have a Cleric or a Greater Restoration scroll ready.
