Dalinar — The Hex Knight
Dalinar was never meant to be saved.
Born beneath the Dark Urge, shaped by violence and loss, he once swore an oath meant to give his brutality direction. When that oath began to hesitate—when it demanded restraint where efficiency was required—he shattered it without remorse. Not out of spite. Out of necessity.
That was the moment he became a Hex Knight.
As an Oathbreaker, Victor does not pretend his power is holy. He wields it honestly—cold, unflinching, and final. The Hexblade’s curse coils around his weapon, marking enemies for death before steel ever touches flesh. When they fall, their spirits do not flee. They rise again as Accursed Spectres, bound to his will, forced to repay the harm they inflicted in life.
He does not enjoy this.
He simply accepts it.
Dalinar is a walking nightmare on the battlefield. His presence chills the air, his strikes drain hope as much as blood, and his shadow seems to move independently—crowded with the dead he has claimed. Where he walks, courage falters. Where he fights, resistance collapses.
Yet beneath the horror is purpose.
Dalinar uses darkness not to dominate, but to end threats permanently. He is pragmatic to the core—always calculating outcomes, always choosing the path that saves the most lives in the long run. Mercy is extended only when it does not endanger the future. When brutal decisions must be made, he makes them without flinching and carries the weight alone.
He is on the path of redemption, not through absolution, but through action. He resists the Urge by aiming it—turning his hunger for destruction into a weapon against those who deserve it. Monsters die so innocents can live. The damned serve one final purpose before oblivion.
Dalinar is a monster.
He knows it.
He accepts it.
Because the world does not always need a hero in shining armor.
Sometimes it needs a Death Knight willing to walk into the dark, drag evil out by the throat, and never ask to be thanked.
