Gold Dragonborn Sorcerer

Aureus Puer — The Gilded Storm

Aureus Puer was born into the Azure Tempest, a secluded clan of blue dragonborn storm sorcerers and soldiers who believed lightning was both weapon and scripture. From birth, their children were trained to command thunder, to march in formation beneath storm clouds, and to treat discipline as sacred. Power was earned. Emotion was restrained. The storm was impartial.

Aureus should not have existed.

Where his kin bore cobalt scales and eyes alive like crackling lightning, Aureus was born a true Gold Dragonborn—his scales radiant, warm to the touch, reflecting firelight rather than lightning. His presence subtly bent the air around him, not with crackling charge, but with a quiet, commanding gravity. No prophecy spoke of a gold-born child among the blue. No ritual explained him. The elders debated whether he was an omen, a blessing, or a warning. In the end, they chose silence.

Despite his clear difference, Aureus was raised as one of their own. He trained as a soldier, learned formation fighting and battlefield discipline, and was taught to wield storm sorcery as every child of the Azure Tempest was. He did not study magic—he endured it, shaped it through instinct and control. Yet his power behaved… differently. His lightning burned brighter, cleaner. Thunder did not rage around him—it answered him. As if the storm itself recognized something ancient in his blood.

He never learned why.

The night the Azure Tempest fell, the sky was unnaturally still.

No thunder heralded the attack. No alarms sounded. Whatever came for the clan struck with terrifying precision. By dawn, the fortress lay in ruins—scorched stone, shattered sigils, and bodies drained of arcane essence, as though their storm magic had been deliberately harvested.

Aureus survived.

Whether by chance, design, or because the attackers did not understand what he truly was, he awoke buried beneath rubble, his storm magic erupting uncontrolled for the first time in his life. The air screamed. Lightning split the heavens. Fire-hot veins burned beneath his golden scales. And then—silence.

There were no answers among the dead.

Now Aureus walks the world carrying fragments of a past he barely understands: broken clan insignia, half-remembered battle drills, and the echo of discipline drilled into him by a clan that no longer exists. He follows the storm sorcery of the Azure Tempest because it is all he has left—but each time he calls lightning, something older than the storm stirs beneath it.

Was he a divine aberration?
A deliberate fusion of dragon lineages?
Or a living key—created, knowingly or not, to end the Azure Tempest from within?

Until he uncovers the truth, Aureus Puer wanders as both heir and anomaly—a Gold Dragonborn wielding the storm magic of a blue dragon clan erased from history, hunted perhaps by the same force that destroyed them.

The storm remembers.
And so does he.
