Face of the party build that can support the team to deal heavy damage.
This build was made to CC fights and set up heavy hitters for Advantage and Crits while also dealing great damage yourself. It’s defnitely a party build and not ideal for solo.
Race is up to you. I chose Human simply for the head model.
You can take ability improvement as your first feat or Sharpshooter. Ability improvement helps during the first half as it allows for higher initiative and attack chance. Taking sharpshooter early can improve damage.
Items
- Head: Arcane Acuity allows for stacking on Spell Attack and Save DC to ensure CC spells hit. Prior to acquiring this helmet, the Diadem of Arcane Synergy also works great with this build as we’re always inflicting conditions.
- Chest: Yuan Ti Scale or Armour of Agility works. I like the reeling effects of the Adamantine Shield and Armour to add a condition and then stack reverberation. Equip and Unequip Shadeclinger Armour while obscured to receive the Shadeclinger buff.
- Cloak: Cloak of Protection for higher AC.
- Gloves: Belligerent Skies are incredibly strong and allow for additional damage and CC.
- Boots: Stormy Clamour will stack more reverberation on enemies. Boots of Brilliance on the side post battles to regain Bardic Inspiration.
- Amulet: Broodmother’s Revenge is for increase damage.
- Rings: Risky Ring is the GOAT. There are ways to offset the disadvantage on savings throws. I like using the Shadeclinger Armour bug to permanently offset the disadvantage until long rest. Before Act 3 use Strange Conduit Ring for some extra damage. At the beginning of Act 3 get Band of the Mystic Scoundrel to cast your CC spells as a bonus action.
- Main hand melee: Any finesse weapon works, I chose Undermountain King because it’s accessible in early game. Phalar Aluve works great too.
- Off-hand hand: Adamantine shield for higher AC and survivability. Works great to inflict reeling/reverberation.
- Ranged: Titanstring Bow for damage from safe distance and high damage. Hill Giant/Cloud Giant Elixirs to get the most out of the weapon. Stock up in Act 1 with Derryth Bonecloak and Auntie Ethel after level ups or long rests. I tend to leave the swamp and hag interaction until I feel I have enough elixirs to last until Act 2. Using the Club of Hill Giant Strength is viable but you lose out on a bit of damage from range and melee. In Act 2 purchase the Drakethroat Glaive from Roah Moonglow and use it to cast either thunder or lightning elemental damage on the bow.
You can coat your weapons with anything that would give you advantage or additional damage. Keep in mind that healing will coat your weapon with poison thanks to Broodmother’s Revenge, removing any existing coating.
