Anaxandros

Anaxandros was raised among the lesser noble families of Baldur’s Gate. While other boys caught frogs and explored the world around him, he found himself caged in a glass maze of manners and minutia. Dinners, balls, and constant lessons weighed upon his childhood days. It is for this reason that Anaxandros fell in love with the world of books, as an escape from the world of society yes, but primarily as a window into the wonders of the world beyond his family’s mansion gates.

Already, by the age of ten, his human father’s expectations for him—that he would become a proud warrior in the duke’s service—were dashed by Anaxandros’ bookishness, his slight build, and his propensity to drift during sword drills. At the age of fifteen, he escaped from his family home, breaking his mother’s heart, and fled to Waterdeep with the desire to learn all he could of magic.

After growing in his studies for years, his secret identity was made apparent to his peers when a messenger approached with the news that his father and mother had both died. Brokenhearted, he made his way back towards Baldur’s Gate to lay them to rest and to take up his inheritance.

However, upon approaching the city outskirts, he found himself suddenly transported into a mindflayer ship, whereupon he received an unwanted visitor in his oracular region. Now, he desperately seeks to escape from the ship, rid himself of the parasite, and return to his family home in the upper city.
