Deep in Charo’s Hidden Grave, far underneath the place where you first entered the Realm of Shadow, you will come across Lamenter’s Gaol, the smallest of the three Gaols in Shadow of the Erdtree (the other two being the Belurat Gaol and the Bonny Gaol), but one filled with unique loot. Even still, with locked doors, hidden passageways, and brutal ambushes, it can be easy to get turned around and miss something. That’s where this walkthrough comes in.

From Charo’s Hidden Grave, after the lake where you can fight the Deathrite Bird, go forward and underneath the large landmass, following a short river. Beside this river, you will find the entrance to the Lamenter’s Gaol.
Upper Level
After entering the dungeon and activating the Lamenter’s Gaol site of Grace, continue down the cavelike path until you reach a fork. The door at the end of the right branch is locked, so go down the left path and continue that way (Image 1). There is a single shade in the hallway, and a cell to your right. In it, a shade will try to ambush you, and you can gather 2x Frozen Maggots before returning to the path to continue further. The next cell has 2 shades, one of which will try to ambush you, and a chest containing the Gaol Upper Level Key (Image 2).

You can continue on the path you from the second cell to reach a narrow bridge (Image 3). In the room just beyond, there is a room containing two shades, as well as a Jar Condemned that will run at you as you enter it. The Jar Condemned in this dungeon are especially dangerous, thanks to a powerful scream attack that damages you in a radius around them. Despite this, try to avoid backing up, as it is easy to be knocked off of the bridge.
After dispatching the enemies, you can find 3x Frozen Maggots in the room. After clearing it, there is a smaller room with a corpse with the Prattling Pate “Lamentation”. After grabbing that, you can head back to the gate you saw earlier, which can now be unlocked with the Gaol Upper Level Key you picked up (Image 4).

Lower Level
Head down the ladder, and then enter the larged, icy room. A Jar Condemned will rush at you from the cell to your right (Image 1). After dispatching it, head into the cell, where you can find two shades and the Chilling Perfume Bottle.
After you grab the Perfume Bottle, head out and go to the right from where you entered. You’ll find a hole that you can drop down into (Image 2). Right below where you drop down, you will find a corpse with Innard Meat.

Continue down into the cave. You’ll come across 2 Rats that you can kill easily enough. After that, keep going, and you’ll come into a larger room. To your left, there is a Rat on top of a ledge, and to your right, there is a Gargantuan Rat (Image 3). Killing the regular Rat will get the Gargantuan Rat’s attention, but you can easily stun it and finish it off when it tries to jump onto the ledge.
After killing the rats, take note of the two paths you can take. The one on the left will lead to a dead end with another Gargantuan Rat and regular rat, with the Clarifying Horn Charm +2 on a body near a sewer grate (Image 4). The path on the right, however, will lead to two regular Rats and the ladder back to the icy room.

After grabbing the Clarifying Horn Charm +2 and heading up the ladder, climb it and open the door in front of you, leading back to the icy room. Right in front of you, there is a Jar Condemned that will crawl out of its jar (Image 5). There are also two other Jar Condemned hiding in within it’s jar behind the ice column in front of you; when you get close, it will burst out of its jar with a scream (Image 6).
After dispatching those two enemies, notice the cliff that you can jump up to the east of the room. At the top of this cliff, there is another Jar Condemened that will burst out of its jar when you cllimb up the icy slopes (Image 7). After killing it, continue along the path that opens up until you end up in an open room. The floor of this room will collapse, dropping you down into the bottom level of Lamenter’s Gaol (Image 8), where there will be 4 shades to take out.

Dropping Down into the Bottom Level
After dispatching the Shades in the room that you drop down into, leave the cell and start up the stairs. To your right, you’ll find a passageway toward a cell. The cell itself has a Call of Tibia in it, but the passageway leading to it ends in a Hidden Wall, which you can roll into or attack to make disappear (Image 1). Within the room behind that Hidden Wall, you’ll find two bodies, one with a Shadow Realms Rune [4], and another with the Lamenting Visage torch (Image 2).

After grabbing the loot from this room, you can either head back along the passageway you came down, or continue back to the same drop you fell down to get to this level of the Gaol. After that, continue up the stairs and through the next cell door. There will be a small gap that you should jump over (Image 3).
After that, you’ll then ycome into the “Jar Room” (Image 4). Atop a huge pile of bodies, there are 3 small Jars dancing around a Hefty Cracked Pot. Around the room, you’ll also find a total of 6 more Jars and 3 Warrior Jars, which can be a good source of Living Jar Shards and Raw Meat Dumplings, as well as a chest that you can open to obtain the Gaol Lower Level Key.

After grabbing the loot and killing the Jars, head back out the way you came (minding the gap once again), and head up to the top of the stairs. When you head through the door at the top of the stairs, you’ll be ambushed by a Jar Condemned to the left (Image 5).
After dispatching it, you can continue along the path until you get to a place where you can drop down: in this room, there are 2 Jar Condemned hiding in pots, as well as a locked door that you can unlock using the Gaol Lower Level Key (Image 6). Behind this door, there is a ladder going down to the boss door, where the Lamenter boss fight will wait for you.
