Dancer of Ranah Boss Guide – Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree

Players are likely pretty scared of these Mausoleums, because the first one in Gravesite Plain had a pretty difficult boss, the Blackgaol Knight. Thankfully, this boss isn’t nearly as difficult as that, especially if you’ve been leveling up your Scadutree Blessing.

  • This boss can be staggered easily, meaning you can stop her combos.
  • The biggest threat is being caught in one of her long combos; back roll away from her to escape.
  • She can be backstabbed and parried for big damage.
  • Be wary of her fire attack, usually you can just back roll away from it.

The Dancer of Ranah is a fairly weak boss, but she does have a resistance is to fire damage. If you have a fire build, then you might want to consider switching your weapon or spells for this fight. She will immediately attack you when you enter the fog, which is fine since you can’t summon spirit ashes for this fight anyway.

Her moveset varies between basic melee attacks, quick-attack combos, and fire spells. Most of them are easy enough to avoid by dodging, or can be guarded against with a shield. If she is doing a long slashing combo at you, then you can simply walk backwards to avoid it or jump and do a power attack to stagger her out of it. The only attack of hers that has enough power to stagger you out of a jumping power attack is her own jumping power attack, and her fire spell.

Jumping power attacks can shut down her combo

Her fanning fire spell that shoots flames in a wide area can do some damage; you will want to roll backwards if you’re a little further away from her, and you’ll want to roll into it if you’re close to her, or up against a wall. If you do get hit by her flames, then you typically have enough time to roll backwards and heal. Speaking of healing, after about 40% of her health is gone, she will use a flask to regenerate some health.

Let’s break down some varying tactics that different builds can use against this light boss:

  • For melee users:
    • we found that the easiest way to get big damage was to stun her with a jumping power attack, then follow up with a quick attack. She will quickly roll away, and if you have a long weapon, then you can catch her again if you time your attack correctly.
    • If you are good at parrying, then you can parry most of her slices, then get a critical hit for big damage.
    • Usually, you can just walk backwards and wait for her to finish a combo or do a jumping power attack, then safely counterattack.
  • For ranged users:

Ranged players will have a marginally harder time with this boss, but as long as you avoid her more dangerous attacks and punish her many vulnerable openings, it shouldn’t take you long to vanquish her.

  • Twirling Combo – The dancer will twirl her two swords at you in a very long combo. This attack can be easily avoided by dodging backwards or just walking backwards. You can also shut it down by doing a jumping power attack.
  • Jumping Power Slash – The boss jumps and comes down with a powerful slash. You can dodge this by going any direction, but it’s best to end up close to her for a counterattack.
  • Flame Attack – The Dancer cross her arms and jets out a wide fan of flames. You can dodge this by rolling forward through the flames, or if you’re back far enough, you can just roll backwards.
  • Flask Heal – After the boss’s health is at around 60%, she will use a flask to heal a quarter of her life. She only does this once. If you know she is try to heal, you can keep attacking while she is trying to back away.
  • Double Slash – The dancer rushes forward and does a quick double slash at you. Roll backwards to avoid, or doing a jumping attack (since the attack hits low, it will miss you).
