Starfield Reaches 10 Million Players

According to an official post by Bethesda on Steam and Twitter/X, Starfield has now passed 10 million players, making it the most successful launch in the studio’s history.

By comparison, Fallout 4 has sold 20 million copies since its 2015 release, and Skyrim has sold 60 million copies since 2011. Fallout Shelter remains the studio’s most played game of all time, with over 170 million downloads, although it is a free to play game. Starfield is available on fewer platforms than those other games as a Microsoft exclusive. To make it even harder to compare, Starfield is available on Xbox Game Pass for free, so those 10 million players don’t all equal sales.

The game is currently at #3 on Steam’s top sellers list, right below Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Steam Deck. Baldur’s Gate 3 holds 4th place, having released a couple of weeks before Starfield. Baldur’s Gate 3 shot up the charts and is currently #9 in the most played games of all time on the platform. Starfield hasn’t caught up yet. Time will tell if players who were already playing Baldur’s Gate 3 will eventually pick up Starfield. We’ll also see the new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, Phantom Liberty, entering the mix next week.

I love RPGs, sandboxes, survival, and sim games. Anything that lets me build and decorate or just has a really good story. I've spent hundreds of hours in Bethesda games and even more time modding them. I also play a lot of World of Warcraft.
