The United Colonies is the most powerful faction in the Settled Systems. It is a centralized republic and can be joined by the player.

Jemison
The United Colonies and share an uneasy peace with the 
Freestar Collective, with whom they fought a bloody colony war about 20 years before the start of the game. The player can join both the United Colonies and the Freestar Collective in the same game. At character creation, the player has the option to choose the United Colonies Native trait.
