Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.6 Now Live, Phantom Liberty Expansion Revealed

Since its release, Cyberpunk 2077 has received many major updates, both to make the game run better and add to new features. During the latest Night City Wire presentation, CD Projekt Red released details on what additions today’s patch 1.6 includes, and also teased the upcoming expansion Phantom Liberty.

The 1.6 patch, called the Edgerunners Update, includes many additions to tie the game with the upcoming Edgerunner anime, as well as a few quality of life improvements. As part of the Edgerunners tie-in, there is a new mission that references Edgerunners’ story. Additionally, you will be able to get a jacket and gun that come straight from the show.

A new feature that has been added to the game is a Wardrobe function. This is effectively a transmog feature, which will allow you to change the appearance of your character. This can be accessed at any wardrobe in the game. Additionally, you will be able to restructure your face or body at any Ripper Doc — this feature also comes with new options for face shapes.

On top of this, you will now be able to play the arcade game Roach Race. This mini-game can be played at any arcade, and scoring high enough will reward you with money and items. There will also now be cross-platform progression, meaning you will be able to move your save data to any platform and continue your playthrough on there.

There are many other minor updates that were not fully covered during the Night City Wire presentation — you can read the full patch notes here. It should be noted that this is going to be the final major update for older gen consoles (they will still receive minor updates like bug fixes).

The latest Night City Wire also covered the future of Cyberpunk 2077, announcing the game’s first expansion, Phantom Liberty. The presentation didn’t give much details about what the expansion will feature, but what has been confirmed is that V and Johnny will be returning, alongside a new cast of characters. The expansion is planned to be released sometime in 2023.

The rest of the presentation was focused on the upcoming anime. It’s good to see that CD Projekt Red is still making efforts to keep the game updated to make Cyberpunk 2077 more enjoyable for the fans. Hopefully in the near future we will hear more about the upcoming expansion, and get a better idea as to when it will launch.

I'm a huge gamer who especially loves the Final Fantasy series. I will play just about any game, especially if it has anything resembling a Dragoon.
