The wait is over! Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available on Xbox Series X|S! The game, which has been out since August 3rd for PC and PlayStation, can now be purchased on the Xbox storefront here, where it costs $69.99. The $79.99 “Deluxe” edition, meanwhile, comes not only with the game, but also with a huge set of cosmetic upgrades and goodies, such as a song pack, a unique in-game dice, and a digital artbook and character sheets. These rewards mirror the Deluxe editions of the game available on PC and Playstation.
But, not all things are the same between editions. While the $10 charge for the Deluxe DLC is the same as on PC and PlayStation, the cost of the game itself it $10 more expensive than it is on Steam, where the game is only $59.99. This actually mirrors the PlayStation version of the game, however, which also costs $69.99. Sorry, console gamers, but 2023’s Game of the Year is just a bit more expensive for you. At least Xbox has it now.
In any case, the launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox comes just one day after this year’s Game Awards, where Baldur’s Gate 3 had an extremely impressive showing, winning 6 awards, including Game of the Year. Surely, it is no coincidence that Larian Studios, the publishers and developers of Baldur’s Gate 3, timed their Xbox release with the day after the biggest award show in gaming, especially considered how sure-fire some awards were.
At the end of the day, we are happy that Baldur’s Gate 3 is available to more people now than ever (and just in time for Christmas… We see what you’re up to, Larian), and that Xbox players can finally join the Game of the Year experience. Have fun in Faerûn, adventurers.
