Ability Drain is a passive Illithid Power that can be unlocked by investing points in the Second Rim Fracture Psyche skill tree.
The power works as follows: once per turn, when you make an attack roll, the attack reduces that target’s corresponding ability by 1. The ability that is reduced is the same as the one used to make the attack roll. For melee weapons, this will usually be Strength, and for ranged weapons, Dexterity.
Using Ability Drain gives you an advantage in combat when attacking enemies, as it decreases the ability point corresponding to the attack you made to your target. Continually attacking the same target over and over will further decrease its ability point, lessening the enemy’s effectiveness in combat
