Here’s What’s in Each Alone in the Dark Edition

Alone in the Dark, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive’s reimagining of the grandfather of all survival horror games, is slated to launch on March 20, 2024. The game will be available on PC, as well as the PlayStation and Xbox families of consoles. However, figuring out when you’ll be able to buy the game, and what you’ll be getting in return, is trickier than it has any right to be. This article will help you properly evaluate your options.

Alone in the Dark comes in three separate editions:

  • Standard Edition
  • Digital Deluxe Edition
  • Collector’s Edition

The Standard Edition will cost you $59.99, the Digital Deluxe will set you back a nice $69.99, while the Collector’s Edition listed on THQ Nordic’s official store is currently unavailable for purchase, but it’s unclear if it will come back in stock later or not. The Collector’s Edition also appears to only be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with no PC version listed. However, there is a PC version in the image of the content, so it’s hard to say if PC versions will be available with any new Collector’s Editions that go up for sale.

What’s also important to know is that you can’t even pre-order the PC version. And if you do so for your PlayStation or Xbox console, the Standard Edition will come with the special Derceto 1992 Costume Pack. The Digital Deluxe Edition, also unavailable for PC at this point, will get you a series of Vintage Horror Filters and the Director’s Commentary Mode on top of that. Going by the wording in the Collector’s Edition store page that lists these items as the “Collector’s Edition DLC Package,” it’s safe to assume that you’ll be able to purchase these separately as DLC at a later date.

All the editions are also packaged with the Alone in the Dark Prologue that’s currently available as a free demo for the game. This demo is disconnected from the main game’s events and can be experienced as a standalone bit of content.
