Al Bhed Primers help the player understand the Al Bhed language in Final Fantasy X. The Primers are scattered throughout Spira, and when found, it will translate one of the letters from the language in all dialogue (for example, after finding volume I, you will see Al Bhed ‘Y’s as ‘A’s.
You can pick up most Primers at any point in the game, however volumes XIX through XXII can only be obtained the first time you are in those areas. An alternate way to get them is if you have a save file with them collected already, you can sync your Primers with the file at Al Bhed Spheres found in travel agencies.

After finding all of the Primers, you can talk to Rin on the Fahrenheit and he will give you 99 Underdog’s Secrets. Collecting one Primer will give you the achievement ‘Speaking in Tongues,’ while getting all of them will give you the achievement ‘Master Linguist.’
