GPS Locator

Game: Sons of the Forest

Tool
Max Carried:
10 (only three on map)
A tracking device that shows up on your GPS Tracker. Can be placed on a stick, or given to companions, so they will show up on the map.

GPS Locators can be found using your GPS Tracker (go figure). When looking at your GPS, you will notice that there are points of interest marked with a purple exclamation point. Those points are where the other soldiers are at, and every soldier (just like Kelvin), have their own locators on them so they pop up on the GPS’s map. You will find helpful items at those locations, but sometimes you need an item like the shovel to get to the soldiers.

These are actually very handy items to have. When the game released in early access, we were only able to collect three locators. We are sure to get more in future updates, but it is still possible to acquire more than three. Whenever you reload your game, the locators (along with other items) will respawn, so you can collect up to ten.

These have a couple of purposes; one is you can give a locator to Virginia to spot where she’s wandering around on the map. Another cool feuture is you can make your own markers on the map. All you need is a stick and a GPS locator; put the stick in the ground vertically (press button xbox lefttrigger/ icon mouse right click v2 to switch from the option to build a fire), then equip a locator and place it on the end of the stick (1). Now you can see that marker on your GPS’s map.

Another cool feature is that you can change the icon of your GPS locator before putting it on the stick, or giving it to Virginia. This will give it a unique marker on the map. Options include batteries, a heart, a helicopter, and a home, but there are quite a few others to diversify your markers (2).
