When it comes to survival in games like Sons of the Forest, simple functions like sleep serve as much more than a way to save your game. Between fighting mutants and chasing after story points, you can quickly find yourself exhausted in-game. You may also just be looking for a way to pass the night more quickly so that exploration comes easier and is less stress-inducing.
Regardless of your reason for wanting to sleep in Sons of the Forest, one fact remains true and that is your need for a bed. Sure, you could always use a shabby tent found out on the island or craft a temporary one yourself with a tarp, but why do that when you can have a personal resting spot to always go back to? If you are wondering how to make a bed in Sons of the Forest, read on to find out and hit the sack yourself.
How To Make a Bed
Survival does not come easily in Sons of the Forest, so if you want to stay alive and thrive on the island, you will want to make a bed. The first thing you need to do is open up your construction guidebook, a function that serves as a basic blueprint and crafting menu. To do so, simply press / / . If your guidebook is in your right hand (in “custom mode”), you will then need to hold / / to swap over to the left hand (“classic mode”). After you have the book open and ready, click on the third tab sticking out to the right (the purple table symbol) to get to the furniture section. You will see the option there to craft a Stick Bed, as shown below.
All you need to do then is select the Stick Bed and place the outline down where you will want to have your bed. Once you have placed the outline, you will need to gather x16 Sticks and x1 Duct Tape if you do not have them already in your inventory. To place the materials on the bed’s outline/wireframe, simply press / / as it prompts you to while facing it. You will need to spam the same button until every material is placed and a “click” sound goes off indicating that the bed is complete.
Once the Stick Bed has been completed, you can finally use it as a save point or as a place to sleep in your house. To save, face the bed and hold / / , or press / / to sleep, as shown below. After sleeping, be sure to also save, as using the sleep function does not automatically save your game.
Keep in mind that sleeping points are the only places that you can save, and that energy is regained through sleeping. If you sleep during the night, you will wake up in the morning. If you sleep during the day, you will wake up later in the night. When playing on a multiplayer server, all players will need to sleep for the day to progress and rest to occur. Thankfully, one Stick Bed is enough to support every player on the server, so you don’t need to worry about building more if you are only looking to make one out of practicality.
Now that you know how to make a bed in Sons of the Forest, you can jump back into the game and get a head start on your own cozy sleeping spot.
