Best Food For Each Biome – Valheim

Each biome in Valheim contains new enemies and challenges. To face those challenges, you’ll need to fortify your characters with Health, Stamina and Eitr-boosting food. With how many options there are, and with you being able to have up to three types of food buffing you at the same time, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. This guide will help you identify the best types of food for each of Valheim’s biomes.

You have 3 slots for food buffs in Valheim, meaning you can eat up to 3 different types of food at the same time. You can mix and match food in any way you like, you just can’t eat two of the same food at once. As such, the sections below will list 3 top Health foods and 3 top Stamina foods for each biome. The later biomes will also list the best Eitr food. You might also want to check out our complete food list.

  • You’ll usually need to wait several minutes, depending on what you ate, before you can refresh or replace your food buffs. If you want to speed-up the process, you can eat some Bukeperries that remove all your active food buffs.
  • If you’re using console commands, you can type puke in the dev console to clear out the buffs as well.
  • Food buffs lose their potency over time. If you’re preparing for a tough battle, we advise you to eat your strongest food right before the fight starts.
  • Food availability is also something you need to consider. Oftentimes it’s smarter to eat some weaker, easy-to-make Sausages and save the rare Serpent Stew for the tough boss fights ahead.
  • Most types of food heavily favor either Health or Stamina. When exploring new areas and fighting, you should aim for 2 types of Health food and 1 Stamina food. And when working in the safety of your base, 3 types of Stamina food will serve you well.
  • Feasts usually provide middling bonuses but they last a long time, making them a great food choice for prolonged, low-danger activities.
  • Eitr food starts appearing in the Mistlands biome. These foods sacrifice Health and Stamina bonuses to let you use magic. When going the magic-route, make sure you still have enough Health and Stamina to feel comfortable.
