Board off your longships, feed your ravens, and grab a snow shovel. After over 5 years in Early Access, Valheim is now officially released. And with this full release, we get the game’s ultimate challenge in the final Deep North biome. The biome offers the standard fare for Valheim: new enemies, new resources, new dungeons, and the final boss fight. Along with all that stuff, we also get plenty of additions and improvements for the rest of the game, like an overhauled Hammer building system, new cinematics, and mechanics.
You can purchase the game for $29.99 or your regional equivalent. It’s available for Windows, Linux, and Mac PCs, Xbox and PlayStation current gen families of consoles, and the Nintendo Switch 2. Check out this release trailer to get into the required frosty crafting survival mood:
Valheim 1.0 Patch Notes
With the game’s release we’re treated to this Steam announcement that lists (perhaps a bit too vaguely) all the new additions and improvements of the 1.0 release. This cool new stuff includes over 40 new weapons, 20 food types, 10 creatures, and 80 build pieces. We also get not one but two new dungeons, the ability to expand our pockets, new music, events, achievements, and cinematics. While the game can now boast a bunch of new cinematics, you’ll see those while actually playing Valheim.
