The developers over at Iron Gate revealed that their Viking-themed survival-crafting game Valheim is just about ready to leave early access. Barring any unexpected delays, Valheim should be getting its 1.0 release on September 9, 2026. Considering the game entered early access all the way back in 2021, this feels like an end of a long, yet productive, journey.

The stuff in the trailer shouldn’t be a surprise to any of you who had followed the journey of Hervor Bloodtooth (here’s a full playlist with all those promotional lore videos). It mainly focuses on Valheim’s final Deep North biome that will be arriving along with the 1.0 release. But along with this biome, the 1.0 release will also feature new additions to the game’s old biomes, so either way, September will be an exciting time to revisit the world of Valheim.
The Steam announcement that comes together with the trailer also lets us know that come full release, Valheim will be available on PC, Linux, Mac, and the Xbox family of consoles. But it will also be arriving to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. And in a welcome development, we’re promised full crossplay between all these platforms.
After what feels like forever, we soon will finally be able to actually finish a game of Valheim. And that’s as good reason as any to mark September 9th on our calendars.
