You’ve surely heard by now that you can become a Vampire in The Elder Scrolls Online. In this article, we tackle the ways of the darkness, teaching you how to become a vampire in ESO. You can find Bloodfiend locations, and learn the advantages (and disadvantages) of becoming this immortal creature.
All Vampires require a condition called Vampirism. Vampirism can be acquired with a vampire bite (however, pay attention, as some older vampires’ bites won’t turn you into a Vampire). There are also Bloodfiends, creatures which spawn in certain specific locations – pay attention to where – which can give you this condition. They spawn in Bangkorai, Reaper’s March and the Rift (see maps below for respawn locations). These creatures spawn in level 37-44 and at night. Once one has been killed, you have to wait until another night to make the Bloodfiend respawn. There is some debate though, about the real respawn time. Some might say it is actually 1.5 days, and that time is governed by the moon phase.
After getting Vampirism, you must go to a Wayshrine to start the quest Scion of the Blood Matron. This is a level 38 quest. Once completed, it finally grants you the Vampire skill line – welcome to darkness!
Disadvantages of Becoming a Vampire
Vampirism can’t exist without Feeding. It is impossible to keep it without sneaking behind a warm blooded creature and using the Feeding ability when you’re told to do so. You can remain undetected if you sneak, if you use an invisibility potion or even using a class ability. The longer you go without Feeding yourself, the higher the debuff and the lower the magicka cost of vampire skills are. There are predetermined periods of time on which you will get to the next stage of vampirism (for example, half an hour, an hour, or an hour and a half). Pay attention to the following stages, as these are the ones you’ll get into if you fail to Feed yourself:
Stage 1 Vampirisim – You take an additional 50% damage from fire attacks. Just remain undetected behind an enemy humanoid to feed on them.
Stage 2 Vampirisim – Your health starts regenerating 25% slower. You take 50% additional damage from fire attacks. However, your Vampirisim abilities cost 20% less health to cast. Just remain undetected behind an enemy humanoid to feed on them.
Stage 3 Vampirisim – Your health regenerates 50% slower. You take 50% more damage from fire attacks. This time, your Vampirisim abilities cost 40% less health to cast. Just remain undetected behind an enemy humanoid to feed on them.
Stage 4 Vampirisim – Your health regenerates an astonishing 75% slower. You also take 50% additional damage from fire attacks. However, your Vampirisim abilities cost 60% less health to cast. Feeding reduces you vampirisim stage, making you stronger. Just remain undetected behind an enemy humanoid to feed on them.
Not only do you get several debuffs over time, your appearance also changes to match the vampirism stages. Be careful, however, as you will get an incredible weak point: you are susceptible to receive higher damage outputs from a fighter’s guild skills. In PvP matches, if you find some player which can capitalize on this ability, you can suffer ridiculous amounts of damage.
How to be Cured of Vampirism
Vampirism can be cured completely. It’s really easy – just go visit the original NPC which started the Vampire quest. This way, he will propose to go to a nearby town, where you can remove the disease for a price. This way, you don’t need to go to the Vampire matron.
The Other Way To Become a Vampire in ESO
Blood Ritual allows the player who already has Vampirism to spread it to other players. However, there is one catch – you can only spread it once a week. Blood Ritual is a passive skill in the Vampire skill line. You just have to visit the Vampire altar during the Blood Matron quest (you can find the image of the altar below, and its location in Bangkorai).
So there you have it! I hope you’ve found this guide useful on how to become a Vampire in ESO. Playing as a Vampire is lots of fun, but it does present unique challenges. Are you a vampire? Hi Ryan. From my understanding, the vampire cure isn’t a one time deal. Just like Skyrim, you can get healed, become a vampire a second time, and get healed again if you wish.
Does the cure an only one time thing? Or can i become a vampire and get cured multiply times like in Skyrim? ….i think
