Power Plant – Rust Monument Guide

In this guide, we will be exploring the Power Plant monument. This guide contains the general strategy and meta for the monument, a map with Crate spawn locations, and callouts so you can more easily navigate the monument.

For info on how to read the map and some more general information about the guide, please refer to the Map Key in the Main Guide.

Power Plant is a fan-favorite monument, and for good reason! It has a dynamic layout with multiple ways of running it, an extremely verticle layout, and some fantastic loot spots, and its density is just perfect for all kinds of engagements and distances.

With Power Plant, you will have to choose between focusing on the puzzle, or focusing on general Crate spawns. The monument it too large to concentrate on both concurrently, so it is better to enter with a plan.

Should you choose to focus on collecting Crates, the strategy is fairly simple: you want to go in a big circle around the Puzzle Rooms at the center of the monument. Simply start from any entry point and move from building to building until you’ve cleared them all, or until you have what you need. Generally, the best rotation order is as follows (looting as you go, of course):

  1. Go to the Full Reactor (7)
  2. Drop down the center pipe
  3. Run up the pipe and grab the Military Crate (Above 5)
  4. Run past the Recycler (2)
  5. Drop down into the sewers
  6. Walk around to the Stairs at the Train Station (1)
  7. Run down through the tunnel and get the Brown Crate
  8. Jump down and grab the crate in the train car, loop over to the last Recycler building (9)
  9. grab the Green Crate, grind, and leave.
  10. Loop up and grab the Crumbling Reactor’s (6) loot,
  11. Repeat Step 1

You can start this rotation at any point, depending on your point of entry.

The Blue and Green Card Puzzles at Power Plant are underwhelming in terms of crates, with less loot than the other Card Puzzles. That said, there are still plenty of crates between both rooms, and the Blue Card Room still contains a Red Card, so you may want to run it anyway. In order to complete it, you need to flip two separate switches with timers and insert one fuse. To complete the Puzzles, do the following:

  • Go to the Refinery Room (8)
  • Flip both switches inside
  • Run to the Recycler Building (2)
  • Flip the switch there as well
  • Run to the Puzzle Room (5) and swipe a Green Card
  • Run up the stairs in the Puzzle Room (5)
  • Put a fuse in where it belongs, just past the blue door
  • Swipe the Blue Card

Once inside the Green Room, you will find two brown crates and a green crate. You will also find a Green Card, which can replace the one you used to get in. If you want to exit now, there are four possible routes. You can continue up the stairs and exit on the roof, go through the sewers at the bottom, or exit through either of the two entrances on the ground level. Use this to be able to avoid enemies on your way out. If you are getting shot through the windows on the sides of the building, you should make an escape through the sewers or the roof.

If you are the attacker in this circumstance, you should assume your opponent will leave out of one of those two exits, and so should keep watch on the Sewers or the Roof, depending on where you think they will go.
