Valheim – Hervor’s Deep North Journey Continues, Art Contest Announced

The developers over at Iron Gate are currently working on the Deep North biome for their survival-crafting game Valheim, the last one before the game can leave early access. In order to get us all ready for the big launch, and to tease some of the stuff that will await us in the icy biome, they’re releasing a series of promotional videos documenting the journey of one Hervor Bloodtooth. We got one last month, and now, the game’s latest development update brings us another one. Check it out:

This video introduces us to a new creature we’ll encounter while exploring the Deep North biome. Not the biggest fans of clubbing, these adorable critters are sure to compare you to a kiss from a rose. They’re sure to drop some nice crafting materials, but will you be able to bring yourself to collect them? Just look at these cute fellas:

And while we eagerly await the Deep North release, the developers are keeping themselves extra busy. The game’s Public Test branch is currently testing a new early access patch that aims to squash a number of bugs and improve the game’s performance. But beyond that, they’re running an interesting contest for their artistically inclined players. This article on the official website has all the details, but in short, the Favour of Freya contest (running through March 31st, 2025) invites us to take impressive-looking screenshots – be they atmospheric or action-packed – for a chance to win a jumbo-sized plushie depicting Valheim’s Neck critter.
