Spice Rack is the Swamp-tier Cauldron improvement that unlocks a wide range of new cooking recipes.
How to Craft
To craft a Spice Rack, you’ll need 3 Dandelions, 2 Carrots, 5 Mushrooms, 3 Thistle, and 3 Turnips
Most of the ingredients grow naturally in the world except for the Carrots and Turnips – you’ll need to farm those
When you have a Cauldron set up, you’ll want to keep upgrading it as you progress through the game to unlock more and more powerful recipes. The first Cauldron improvement you’ll get access to is the Spice Rack. You’ll be able to build it after exploring the Swamp biome.
Dandelions are yellow flowers that grow on the ground in the Meadows biome
Carrots are initially found growing wild in the Black Forest as Carrot Seeds that can then be cultivated into actual Carrots
Mushrooms can be found on the ground in the Meadows, Black Forest and Swamp biomes
Thistle is a glowing plant that you’ll spot in the Black Forest and Swamp biomes
Turnips are similar to Carrots, but you’ll find their seeds in the Swamp
Dandelions, Mushrooms, and Thistle occur naturally in the world and are easy to spot. Just make a habit of picking them up whenever you spot them. When gathered, they respawn after 240 minutes, so if you find a particularly rich location for any of these resources, mark them on your map and return there from time to time.

Carrots grow in their wild state in the Black Forest. There, they look like a white plant. When gathered, that plant will give you some Carrot Seeds. You will then be able to plant these seeds with the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5). That way you’ll be able to grow some actual Carrots. Just make sure to then plant some of your Carrots back as Seed-carrots in order to have a steady supply.
Turnips work exactly the same as Carrots, only you will initially find their wild plants in the Swamp biome. They can be tricky to spot in the dark biome, but just keep looking for the signature yellow flowers, and you’ll eventually find them.

How to Place
You’ll want to place the Spice Rack close to your Cauldron
You will need to have a Workbench nearby to craft a Spice Rack
A Spice Rack needs to be hanging from a ceiling or a horizontal beam
Once you’ve collected the ingredients for a Spice Rack, head over to your Cauldron. Open the Hammer crafting menu by selecting it on your hotbar then pressing the right mouse button. Navigate to the Crafting tab and select the Spice Rack. You will need a Workbench nearby to create a Spice Rack.
Placing the Spice Rack can actually be quite tricky. What you need to keep in mind is that you’re supposed to hang it from the ceiling or a horizontal beam, not put it on a wall. It also requires a fair amount of empty space and needs to be close enough to the actual Cauldron. If you try to place your Spice Rack somewhere it can’t go, the game will actually give you an error message telling you what you’re doing wrong.
When you find a good spot, simply place the Spice Rack there and enjoy the new recipes it unlocks in the Cauldron cooking menu.

Helpful Tips
While you’re intended to upgrade your Cauldron as you advance through the biomes, the order in which you build your Cauldron improvements technically doesn’t matter – they all upgrade the Cauldron level by 1
You will usually need to pick up some of the ingredients for a recipe before it actually appears in your cooking menu
You can rotate the Spice Rack with your mouse wheel before placing to find a good spot for it
