Onion Soup is a Mountain-tier food that increases your health by 20, stamina by 60, and regeneration by 1 hp/tick for 20 minutes. A level 2 Cauldron is required to cook 3 Onions into Onion Soup.
Acquisition
Onion Soup is the better use for your Onions
To start growing Onions, you’ll first need to find some Onion Seeds in the Mountain biome
You’ll need a level 2 Cauldron to cook Onion Soup
The only ingredient in Onion Soup are Onions. They can be surprisingly hard to obtain, as they don’t naturally grow anywhere. Instead, you’ll need to explore the abandoned structures in the Mountain biome in search for Onion Seeds. Then, you’ll be able to start growing Onions back at your base with the help of the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5).
Once you have an Onion farm going, you’ll want a Cauldron (Tin x10) with the Spice Rack that’s its level 2 improvement (Dandelion x3, Carrot x2, Mushroom x5, Thistle x3, Turnip x3). When exploring the Mountain biome, you should already have both of these.
When you have everything ready, interact with the Cauldron and combine 3 Onions into a bowl of Onion Soup.

When you have some Onion Seeds, you will want to create an Onion farm. Since Onions can grow in the Meadows, Black Forest, and Plains biomes, you can farm them in your main Meadows base. All farming is done with the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5) that you can craft once you’ve explored the Black Forest.
To create a farm, find a flat plot of land or flatten it out yourself. Then equip the Cultivator and right click with it selected on your hotbar. In the menu that appears, select Cultivate and then start left-clicking on the ground to create soil fit for planting. Once you have enough soil, right click again and select Onions. Plant them in the cultivated soil, then wait for several in-game days. Then go back to your farm and you’ll be able to harvest your Onions.
Onions need plenty of room to grow, so don’t plant them close to walls or each other. If you plant an Onion wrong, it will turn brown and if you hover over it, you’ll get a message saying that the Onionneeds more room to grow. If you do it right, you’ll get a message that your Onion is healthy.
Once you have your first Onions, don’t rush to eat them all. Instead, take your first harvest and again using the Cultivator, turn them into Seed-onions. That way each Onion can be turned into 3 Onion Seeds, allowing you to farm Onions indefinitely.

Food
When you cook your Onions into Onion Soup and then eat it, you’ll gain 20 health, 60 stamina, and 1 hp/tick extra health regeneration for 20 minutes. The soup can be eaten together with up to two other foods, but you can’t eat more than one bowl of Onion Soup at a time.
Initially, you’ll get the full effects of Onion Soup, but they will fade with time. When the buff has just 50% of its duration left, or 10 minutes, you’ll be able to eat another Onion Soup and refresh the effects.
