Magecap is a basic Mistlands-tier food that increases your health by 25, stamina by 25, Eitr by 25, and health regeneration by 1 hp/tick for 15 minutes. You can also use them in several advanced recipes.

It takes 2-3 in-game days for planted Magecaps to grow
You will find Magecaps growing naturally in the Mistlands biome. They’re long blue sparkling mushrooms. Since you’ll need quite a few of them if you want to become a proper Viking spellcaster, it’s a good idea to use your first Magecaps to start a farm. You can grow and multiply them within the Mistlands biome using the Cultivator tool. The next section will explain the specifics of farming Magecaps, but if you want some general farming info, you can also consult our farming guide.

How to Farm
Magecaps can grow in the following biomes:
Mistlands
Magecaps are very similar to Jotun Puffs. Only they’re blue instead of orange. You find them growing wild in the Mistlands. Unlike Carrots, Turnips and Onions, Magecaps don’t use seeds and can be planted directly. When you plant a Magecap in cultivated Mistlands soil, it will grow into 3 Magecaps after 2-3 in-game days.

Food
A Magecap may very well be your very first taste of magic in Valheim. Eating one will raise your health by 25, stamina by 25, Eitr by 25, and health regeneration by 1 hp/tick for 15 minutes. While the bonuses Magecaps provide are relatively minor, they will still unlock your Eitr bar that lets you cast spells. Just keep in mind that later on you’ll want to eat more advanced Eitr foods to expand your “mana” reserves.
To eat a Magecap, simply right-click it in your inventory. You can combine them with up to two other foods, but you can’t eat more than one Magecap at any given time. When you eat a Magecap, you will enjoy its full effects. This buff will fade with time. When its duration is at 50% which translates into 7.5 minutes for Magecaps, the buff icon will start flashing and you’ll be able to eat another one and refresh the buff.
Cooking & Brewing
Magecaps are a key ingredient in the majority of advanced recipes that boost your Eitr. As such, you will want to have a steady supply of them if you want to be a spellcaster. They can also be used to brew several Meads. The Recipes section will provide you with the full list.
Farming
As mentioned earlier, you can farm Magecaps in the Mistlands biome. Since they’re relatively rare in nature, you will want to start a Magecap farm as soon as possible. Planting a Magecap in cultivated soil will produce three new Magecaps for you.
