Grilled Neck Tail is a Meadows-tier food that increases your health by 25, stamina by 8, and health regeneration by 2 hp/tick for 20 minutes. It’s prepared by cooking a Neck Tail on a Cooking Station and may very well be the first proper meal you cook in Valheim.

Acquisition

  • Grilled Neck Tail is obtained by grilling a Neck Tail on a Cooking Station over a Campfire
  • It takes 25 seconds for a Grilled Neck Tail to cook
  • If you leave it cooking for too long, it will turn into Coal

If you want to eat a Grilled Neck Tail, you’ll first have to hunt some Necks and then grab the tails they drop. Necks are green lizard creatures that live by the water in the Meadows biome.

Place a Neck Tail on a Cooking Station (Wood x2) with a fire burning underneath and wait 25 seconds. Afterwards, don’t forget to grab the Grilled Neck Tail from the station. If you leave it there too long, it will eventually turn into Coal.

Food

When consumed, Grilled Neck Tail increases your health by 25, stamina by 8, and health regeneration by 2 hp/tick for 20 minutes. To eat a Grilled Neck Tail, simply right click it in your inventory. Its effects can be combined with up to two other foods, however you can’t eat more than a single Grilled Neck Tail at a time.

The benefits you get from eating a Grilled Neck Tail start strong, but wane over time. When the buff provided by eating a Grilled Neck Tail reaches 50% of its duration, or 10 minutes, the buff icon will begin flashing and you’ll be able to eat another Grilled Neck Tail to refresh the effects.

Helpful Tips

  • Necks tend to live in groups near water in the Meadows biome
  • Stronger Necks, those with one or two star ratings, drop more tails
  • While it’s a big waste, if you really need some Coal before you have access to a Charcoal Kiln, you can intentionally overcook some Neck Tails
