Acquisition
Bonemaw Serpents are similar to regular Serpents but they only live in the boiling waters of the Ashlands biome
You will need a Drakkar Ship to hunt Bonemaws. To build one, you will first need to defeat the Queen boss of the Mistlands biome

Once you’ve defeated the Queen of the Mistlands biome, she will drop a Majestic Carapace. You will use it to upgrade your Artisan Table with an Artisan Press. And this will let you produce the Ceramic Plates you’ll need to build a Drakkar ship. This is the only ship capable of withstanding the boiling waters surrounding the Ashalands.
When sailing in the Ashlands biome, you will occasionally be attacked by Bonemaws. They are essentially a bigger, stronger version of the regular sea Serpents from the Ocean. Ranged weapons are highly recommended when dealing with them. Once you defeat a Bonemaw, it will drop several chunks of Bonemaw Meat.
Take this Bonemaw Meat to an Iron Cooking Station (Iron x3, Chain x3) over an open fire and leave it there for 60 seconds. Then, pick up your Cooked Bonemaw Meat. Just make sure not to leave it there for too long or it will turn into Coal.

Cooked Bonemaw Meat is one of the strongest sources of health in the game. Eating it increases your health by 90, stamina by 30, and health regeneration by 6 hp/tick for 25 minutes. Eating it is as simple as going into your inventory and right-clicking the Cooked Bonemaw Meat icon. You can combine its effects with up to two other foods, but can only eat one Cooked Bonemaw Meat at a time.
The buff granted by Cooked Bonemaw Meat will start out strong but will fade over time. When there’s just 50% of its duration left, or 12.5 minutes, the buff icon will flash and you’ll be able to eat another Cooked Bonemaw Meat to refresh the buff.
Helpful Tips
The meat Bonemaws drop tends to float, however their trophies sink, so it’s still advisable to fight them close to shore
A single Bonemaw drops between 6 and 7 meat, which makes hunting them less of a chore
Cooked Bonemaw Meat weighs roughly 10 times what most other foods do, so if you decide to use it as your food source, make sure you’re not carrying too many of them
