When cooked into Carrot Soup, Carrots will ensure your stamina is in a good spot throughout the Black Forest biome.

Acquisition

  • Carrot Soup offers a way to get more use out of your Carrots
  • Carrots themselves are grown from Carrot Seeds found in the Black Forest
  • You’ll also need a basic Cauldron and some Mushrooms to cook Carrot Soup

For a single bowl of Carrot Soup, you’ll need 3 Carrots and a Mushroom:

  • Mushrooms grow naturally on the ground in the Meadows, Black Forest and Swamp biomes
  • Carrots are grown from the wild Carrot Seeds you find when exploring the Black Forest

Mushrooms grow naturally in the Meadows, Black Forest and Swamp biomes. You’ll recognize them by their rich red caps. You can’t actively farm them, but when picked, Mushrooms will respawn on their own after 240 minutes. To start growing Carrots, you’ll first need to find a wild Carrot plant in the Black Forest. When you pick it up, you’ll get three Carrot Seeds. Planting them with the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5) will allow you to grow your own Carrots.

Once you have both Carrots and Mushrooms, take them to a Cauldron (Tin x10) and combine them into Carrot Soup. One Mushroom and three Carrots will give you a single bowl of Carrot Soup.

When you have the Carrot Seeds, you will want to create a Carrot farm. Since Carrots can grow in the Meadows, Black Forest, and Plains biomes, you can farm them in your main Meadows base. All farming is done with the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5) that you can craft once you’ve explored the Black Forest.

To create a farm, find a flat plot of land or flatten it out yourself. Then equip the Cultivator and right click with it selected on your hotbar. In the menu that appears, select Cultivate and then start left-clicking on the ground to create soil fit for planting. Once you have enough soil, right click again and select Carrots. Plant them in the cultivated soil, then wait for several in-game days. Then go back to your farm and you’ll be able to harvest your Carrots.

Carrots need plenty of room to grow, so don’t plant them close to walls or each other. If you plant a Carrot wrong, it will turn brown and if you hover over it, you’ll get a message saying that the Carrot needs more room to grow. If you do it right, you’ll get a message that your Carrot is healthy.

Once you have your first Carrots, don’t rush to eat them all. Instead, take your first harvest and again using the Cultivator, turn them into Seed-carrots. That way each Carrot can be turned into 3 Carrot Seeds, allowing you to farm Carrots indefinitely.

Uses

Food

Eating a Carrot Soup will grant you 15 health, 45 stamina, and 2 hp/tick health regeneration for 25 minutes. You can eat Carrot Soup together with up to two other foods, but can’t eat more than one bowl of Carrot Soup at a time.

The buff granted by Carrot Soup will initially be at full strength, but will grow weaker over time. When there’s just 50% left in its duration, or 12.5 minutes, you’ll be able to eat another Carrot Soup and refresh the buff.

Helpful Tips

  • When growing Carrots, make sure you plant each third Carrot you get back as a Seed Carrot, and that way you’ll never run out of seeds.
  • Carrot Soup provides enough stamina for it to remain a staple of your diet throughout the game when you’re not doing anything particularly taxing, like farming or constructing your base.
