Blood Pudding is a Plains-tier food that increases your health by 25, stamina by 75, and health regeneration by 2 hp/tick for 30 minutes. Blood Pudding is cooked in a level 4 Cauldron by combining 2 Thistle, 2 Bloodbags and 4 Barley Flour.

Acquisition

  • Blood Pudding is prepared by combining 2 Thistle, 2 Bloodbags, and 4 Barley Flour in a level 4 Cauldron
  • The bulk of the recipe consists of ingredients you should have left over from the Black Forest and Swamp biomes
  • Barley Flour production takes some set-up, but once it’s done, it’s very easy to make a lot of it

Here’s where you’ll find the necessary ingredients for Blood Pudding:

  • Thistle is a glowing green and blue plant found in the Black Forest and Swamp biomes
  • Bloodbags are dropped by the Leeches found in the waters of the Swamp biome
  • Barley Flour is produced by processing Barley that you’ll find in a Fulling village in the Plains biome, and can then start growing for yourself

The first two ingredients for Blood Pudding are very basic and easy to obtain. Thistle is this thin long plant you’ll find in the Black Forest and Swamp biomes. It glows, which is very noticeable at night, and that makes it really easy to gather. When you gather it, it respawns after 240 minutes. Bloodbags are dropped by the Leech monsters. You’ll find them lurking in various pools of water that are plentiful in the Swamp biome.

To produce Barley Flour, you’ll first need to set up a Barley farm. And for that, you’ll need some Barley. You generally find it growing inside Fulling villages in the Plains biome. You can only grow Barley in the Plains. Since it’s used in a lot of good recipes, creating a farm in the Plains and placing a portal nearby will be your best bet. You plant Barley using the Cultivator tool (Corewood x5, Bronze x5). For each Barley you plant, you’ll get 3 Barley back after it’s grown.

Turning Barley into flour requires a Windmill (Stone x20, Wood x30, Iron Nails x30). You don’t need to place it in the Plains, and can just build it in your main base. You’ll just need an Artisan Table (Wood x10, Dragon Tear x2) to create it, and for that, you’ll need to defeat Moder – the Mountain biome boss. With a Windmill up and running, load it up with Barley from one end, then wait and pick up your Barley Flour from the other.

With the ingredients all ready, you will need a Cauldron (Tin x10) and at least 3 improvements nearby putting it at Cauldron level 4. These are the Spice Rack (Dandelion x3, Carrot x2, Mushroom x5, Thistle x3, Turnip x3), the Butcher’s Table (Ancient Bark x2, Corewood x4, Finewood x4, Silver x2), and Pots and Pans (Iron x5, Copper x5, Black Metal x5, Finewood x10). When all of this is ready, simply combine 2 Thistle, 2 Bloodbags, and 4 Barley Flour into a Blood Pudding.

Uses

Food

Eating a Blood Pudding will raise your health by 25, stamina by 75, and health regeneration by 2 hp/tick for 30 minutes. You can combine it with up to two other foods, but can’t eat more than a single Blood Pudding at a time.

The buff provided by Blood Pudding starts out strong but fades over time. When there’s just 50% left in its duration, or 15 minutes, the buff icon will flash and you’ll be able to eat another Blood Pudding to refresh its effects.

Helpful Tips

  • While only slightly stronger than Bread, Blood Pudding requires ingredients you’ll have to hunt and gather, making it the premium Plains-tier stamina-boosting food for when you need every boost you can get
  • When looking for Bloodbags, Leeches with stars by their health bars drop considerably more of those
  • Thistle takes 240 minutes to regrow, so if you find a good spot where it grows, make sure to mark it on your map
