Abandoned Cabins – Rust Monument Guide

In this guide, we will be exploring the Abandoned Cabins monument in Rust. This guide contains the general strategy and meta for the monument, a map with Crate spawn locations, and callouts so you can more easily navigate the monument.

For info on how to read the map and general information about the guide please refer to the Map Key in the Main Guide.

Abandoned Cabins is a primitive monument with no radiation, and can only spawn within the forest/plains biome. It is surrounded by swamp-biome trees and swamp bush. The actual monument itself consists of two cabins, with a small decayed walkway between them. Because of its location, its ease to loot, and its status as a buildable monument, it makes for an excellent stop in the early game.

Unlike most monuments in Rust, Abandoned Cabins is a buildable monument. This means that you can build right up against the Boardwalks and the Raft, allowing you to make this monument into a base itself. Therefore, you can defend it however you would any home base — a huge advantage over other monument-bases.

With this monument, you’ll have access to frequent spawns of Brown Crates and Green Cards, as well as sulfur nodes and pickups. What’s more, the swamp is a freshwater source, meaning it can be easily turned into a farm. Just don’t waste your time harvesting the surrounding swamp trees; they are some of the worst trees in the game for wood.

The following callouts correspond to the image above:

  1. Shopfront Cabin
  2. Green Card Cabin
  3. The Boardwalk – Each cabin has one of these extending towards the other. To appropriately call this out, you would say “the Shopfront Boardwalk” or “the Green Card Boardwalk.”
  4. The Raft

Make sure to take a trip to the abandoned cabins in your next wipe! Maybe even build a base there. Afterward, check out our other Monument Guides when you need to know about the other monuments.
