Phasmophobia Game Update | New Maps & New Ghosts

Ghost hunting has been around for ages now with TV shows and many games involving ghost interactions to keep the viewer/gamer on their toes. The ghost investigation game of Phasmophobia released in 2020 has been a hit with its recent updates of new movements on how the ghost interacts with the player and updates how the team of up to four players can interact with the ghost trying to find. While the first few runs of Phasmophobia are fun and scary, especially if you’re able to play with up to four players, it can develop into an addictive cycle of wanting to win on each map at hand on the highest difficulty while trying to hunt each ghost. Over time this may seem boring, but with the recent updates the team at Kinetic Games have added into Phasmophobia where the ghost can roam around from its location to haunt and spook the ghost hunters trying to identify it, it has become clear that this early access indie game isn’t going anywhere but up the player charts.

As of June 18th, the recent update for the main build of Phasmophobia added two new ghosts; Yokai and the Hantu. These two ghosts have different little perks like any other ghosts where the Hantu uses the games temperature mechanics, whether around a warm or cold environment. In contrast, the Yokai ghost is sensitive when it hears players talking in-game, which is the best way to play the game instead of talking in Discord or a Teamspeak server. Along with this update, there was a new map added called the Willow Street House. This new map pushes the games mechanic of hiding behind furniture while the ghost is hunting to the next level; seeing that you can’t hide in a closet or a locker anymore, you must find in-game furniture to hide your players model behind while the ghost is trying to find and strangle you. With other little details, including some bug fixes and other little things that the community has been recommending to the small development team, it’s nice to see that the team at Kinetic Games is well awake and ready to keep Phasmophobia going with new updates.

Above is the new Willow Street House map that was recently added into Phasmophobia. It has a main upstairs house layout with a few places to hide and find furniture to hide behind, and also a basement that has two rooms and an excellent corner to keep yourself hidden.

The future of Phasmophobia after the recent updates is growing along with its community. Two new developers have been hired at Kinetic Games to help with new game mechanics and a new artist to help with perhaps adding additional maps and ghost models shortly. While Phasmophobia may still be in the state of early access on Steam, the future of larger maps and updated ghost mechanics to put the game in a more horror state to scare players after playing through the game is great to see with updates being released into the beta build of the game about every week.

The team at Kinetic Games has a growing community with their release of Phasmophobia, and any game updates can be found on Game-Updates.info or on their Discord community server to stay up-to-date on the development of Phasmophobia.
