Freeing up our disk space at last!

After having to discard various games and programs to ensure storage space is open for new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare updates on PC, Infinity Ward has heard our cries for help to ensure our 250 GB SSDs don’t get flooded with only Call of Duty: Modern Warfare updates and game modes that don’t always get played. Infinity Ward announced on October 12th through a Paul Haile Twitter post that PC users will now be able to join the Console community when it comes to saving their storage space. With the latest updates for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on PC bringing the game around 232 GBs, barley fitting on a 250 GB SSD, the PC community was looking for help.

The numbers are in, and PC users that have the full game of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare installed can remove the following data of the game to save space:

Removing Campaign: 34.53 GB saved

Removing Multiplayer: 42.12 GB saved

Removing Special Ops (Co-OP): 37.83 GB saved

Removing Campaign + Special Ops: 72.37 GB Saved

Removing all 3 (Only Warzone, its Required): 129.16 GB Saved

As Paul Haile stated on Twitter today about why users can’t uninstall the Warzone part of the game, being a big part in the PC community where most users wanted to remove the Special Ops and Warzone game modes the most, he had this to say:

Warzone is required because that’s where all the shared data is stored for weapons/operators/etc. that are needed for all modes. The only warzone specific data that gets pulled along is the map and it’s not that much data compared to all the weapons and operators. – Paul Haile

Although it’s a bummer, the PC community can’t remove all and only have the Campaign or only the regular Multiplayer things installed. We’re still able to remove the game from 200+ GBs to 160+ GBs, give or take, to ensure our storage space has some wiggle room. Looking into the future of the next COD games, both communities, PC, and the console will hope to have this in-depth uninstall mode option when it comes to having a 200+ GB game.
