Sony’s Play at Home: 10 free downloadable games this Spring 2021

Sony’s Play at Home program that aims to give Playstation users free games and access to other entertainment forms such as anime and movies, will release ten new games, including the single-player hit game, Horizon: Zero Dawn.

The program started earlier this month when Sony gave free access to a digital copy of Ratchet & Clank, a famous 2016 PS4 game. The game is available until March 31, 2021, at 8 pm PDT.

The Spring 2021 Play at Home Program will feature Sony’s major independent partners as well as an extended trial for Funimation/Wakanim, an anime streaming site. Below is a list of free games that will be available for the program.

From the creators of Journey and Pathless comes a breathtaking, deep-sea adventure game that lets players fulfill their dreams of being a diver. Enter the beautiful world of Abzû, where players are immersed in a vibrant underwater world filled with color, life, and a hint of mystery.

Enter the Gungeon is a gunfight dungeon-crawler where the player’s ultimate goal is to acquire the Gungeon’s legendary treasure: “a gun that can kill the past.”

Much like Abzû, Subnautica is an underwater adventure game. The player crashlands into a planet filled with vast bodies of water, and your main goal is to survive while trying your best to escape.

Rez is back, but this time, in its full glory. Experience the upgraded rail shooter game in its remastered form like never before.

Platform gaming has never been better, thanks to VR. In Astro Bot Rescue Mission, players take control of Astro, a small robot whose goal is to rescue his crew members scattered in five different worlds.

The Witness is a Myst-Esque single-player game where players explore a vast world filled with natural and artificial structures. The game is filled with a ton of puzzles, so it’s an excellent game to get your noggin working.

If you’re a fan of rhythm games like Beat Saber, Thumper is the game for you. Thumper is a fantastic game filled with vibrant colors, excellent visuals, and a good OST that will keep players craving for more.

In Moss, players take control of a mouse named Quill, who dreams of adventure to places beyond her settlement. Players will later meet a glass relic that will take Quill on the journey of her lifetime.

From the creator of Another World and From Dust comes Paper Beast, a VR puzzle game where players experience an extreme ecosystem born from internet data. Players will encounter unique life forms and harsh environments that can be controlled to complete puzzles and obstacles.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of 2017’s top single-player games, which, at that time, was a Playstation exclusive game. Players take control of Alloy, a young huntress who uses her wit and agility to overcome mechanical beasts in a post-apocalyptic world.

Aside from the ten free games, Sony will also offer an extended trial for the anime streaming site Funimation (or Wakanim). The site provides fan-favorite shows such as Attack on Titan and Demon Slayer. Funimation/Wakanim’s coverage, however, is limited to countries that allow the said streaming website.

Playstation’s Play at Home program will start on March 25, 2021.

If I'm not working or spending time with the family I'm probably gaming. Some of my favorite recent games I've played are Far Cry 5, World of Warcraft Classic, and 7 Days to Die.
