Each class in Elden Ring: Nightreign has past experiences that they are trying to remember. As you play a class, you’ll gradually unlock these memories, which will lead to quests — and unique rewards — for the class. This guide is for the first Remembrance Quest for the Wylder class.
Roundtable Hold
Interact with the Journal and read Chapters 1-3
Chapter 3 will only become available after defeating a Night Lord
Select “Begin remembrance” at the end of Chapter 3
Speak to the Iron Menial and accept his task
Start an expedition to Limveld
As you play through expeditions as a Wylder, you’ll receive journal entries that you can read at the Journal in Roundtable Hold. You don’t have to be successful in these expeditions to receive new chapters, but defeating Night Lords seems to unlock them more quickly.
The first two journal chapters describe an earring in the Wylder’s possession, and how it and its missing pair can be used to reveal a word or a code. The third chapter reveals that the missing earring once belonged to an unnamed woman.
At the end of Chapter 3, you’ll see a button that says, “Begin remembrance.” When you press it, you’ll enter the Realm of Remembrance, a memory-version of Roundtable Hold. You’ll recognize that you’re in a memory because there will be a slight fog all around you.
When you talk to the Iron Menial in the Remembrance, he’ll ask you to find him a whetstone. If you select “Understood” when replying to him, then you’ll accept the task, which will give you a personal objective. To complete the objective, you’ll need to start an expedition to Limveld. Only one personal objective can be active at a time, so if one of your teammates has their own personal objective, then the game will pick only one of them for the expedition — which means you might have wait for a future expedition to complete yours.
Limveld
Defeat the Tunnel Crystalian in a quest-marked Tunnel
Claim the Slated Whetstone
Mission Objective
When you arrive in Limveld, some of the Tunnel entrances will be marked with the Mission Objective symbol (shown to the right). These entrances will also be pulsating, making them easy to spot.
Inside the Tunnel, you’ll need to look for a Tunnel Crystalian boss. All of the other enemies, including the regular Tunnel boss, are optional. The Tunnel Crystalian is not a difficult boss to kill, so if you defeat the enemies in the camp where you start out in Limveld, and reach Level 2 before heading to the Tunnel, then you should be fine. The Tunnel Crystalian is also a boss that you can kill alone, so you can complete your personal objective in a solo run, or sprint off by yourself for a few minutes if you can’t convince your teammates to join you.
After defeating the Tunnel Crystalian, you should notice a glowing spot on the wall near where the fight started. When you interact with it, you’ll find a Slate Whetstone — and also receive 30,000 runes. You’ll receive the whetstone along with your regular Relic and Murk rewards at the end of the expedition, regardless of whether you succeed or fail.
You’ll need to defeat a Tunnel Crystalian before you can find the whetstone.
Back in Roundtable Hold
Return to the Iron Menial and accept his reward, including a Mended Earring
Take the Mended Earring and the Wylder’s Earring to the sunlit corner of the hold
Deliver the Mended Earring to the Priestess
When you return to Roundtable Hold, you should give the Slate Whetstone to the Iron Menial. He’ll reward you with two Relics and a Mended Earring — and you’ll notice that the earring’s “ornamentation seems to change with the intensity of the light.” That is, the Mended Earring is the missing pair to your earring. However, when you pick it up, the Iron Menial will inform you that it belongs to the Priestess, and he’ll ask you to return it to her.
Before going to the Priestess, you should take both earrings to the southeastern corner of Roundtable Hold (south of the Iron Menial) and hold them up to the light that is shining through the roof there. When you do, you’ll see a symbol for Wind plus two sentences: “Two horses gallop side by side. May the wind spur us on our path.”
Reuniting the earrings.
You’ll find the Priestess (perhaps with an updated identity) by the expedition table in the main chamber of the hold. When you give her the Mended Earring, she’ll inform you that it means a great deal to her, and that it is “a compass that will lead me to someone dear.”
This will complete the Remembrance Quest. To exit the Realm of Remembrance and return to the regular version of Roundtable Hold, you’ll just need to step into the nearby Remembrance Gateway.
