Where to Find Stonesword Keys – Elden Ring: Nightreign

If you try to enter an Evergaol Arena in Elden Ring: Nightreign, it will tell you that you need a Stonesword Key. Evergaol bosses are a fantastic option for mid-run and late-run characters to round out their levels with a large Runes drop (and it also comes with a higher-tier Dormant Power option as an alternative). In other words, it’s a good location to hit on your run, and in this guide we will go over where you can find Stonesword Keys and where you can go to use them.

Unfortunately, Stonesword Keys are a random drop, but they can be found in chests, breakable objects, loot points (little glowing dots), or Merchants. Chests and breakable objects found at different encampments and locations on the map are the best way to find them, as a Key can drop from any of them.

If one drops, it will be fairly easy to spot, as it is one of the few items that are Rare quality, meaning it will have a purple outline on the ground. While it has a rare drop rate, there are so many chests and breakable objects you can find throughout the map that they end up being fairly easy to find. You are likely to have one in the party by the time you are ready to open up an arena.

Alternatively, Stonesword Keys can be purchased from Merchants if you really want to get one and aren’t having any luck. While not a guarantee, Merchants do have a chance to sell Keys, and that chance is higher on the second day. The only exception is the Merchant from the Township — this one will always have a Stonesword Key in stock.

Once you’ve got your hands on a Stonesword Key, you can use it to unlock any Evergaol — they will appear as a stone circle on the map. At the edge of the circle, you will see an imp statue. Just go up to it and give it the Key, and a boss will appear within the circle.

The Evergaol will spawn a random boss, and while it can be a difficult enemy, your group will probably be well-leveled and geared by the time you fight it, so you likely won’t have much a problem dealing with it (plus, there are less mobs to get in the way).

Once defeated, the boss will offer a large amount of Runes and a Dormant Power to choose between — check out our Evergaol Bosses guide for details. This can give you a solid boost before the Night Lord battle!

I'm a huge gamer who especially loves the Final Fantasy series. I will play just about any game, especially if it has anything resembling a Dragoon.
