Best Weapons for Revenant – Elden Ring: Nightreign

Revenant is in a peculiar spot when it comes to weapons. Her low HP and Stamina make her ill-suited for melee combat. Despite that, she wants to be in the thick of things, defeating enemies to activate her Necromancy passive, and applying status ailments with the help of her respectable Arcane attribute. She also needs to use regular attacks to conserve her limited and hard to refill FP pool.

Perhaps this is why you need to unlock Revenant before you can play as her (we have a guide that will help you unlock Revenant) With that in mind, we’ve put together this list of weapon suggestions that she can use well, so that during an expedition you’re not just playing your lyre from the back.

Main Hand Archetype: Light Weapons with Status Ailments, Faith-scaling weapons
Off-hand Archetype: Sacred Seal with Lightning or Holy spells

Revenant is positioned as a support character and is given a seal with a healing spell at the start of an expedition. Healing magic, however, isn’t very useful in Nightreign. It takes a while to cast and requires your targets to stand close to you when it goes off. Lumping together for an extended period of time like this can be deadly. Not to mention that in a team with random players, they’ll never know when you want to cast your heals. Instead of healing, Revenant players should focus on giving their team an early edge with her summons. You can learn more about that in our How to Play Revenant guide.

Revenant’s only standout attribute is Faith, making her very good at dealing damage with Sacred Seal incantations. But you’ll need to remember that she’s limited by how much FP she can use in a fight, as she doesn’t have a natural way to regenerate FP. This means you’ll also want to use a weapon. Revenant’s Arcane attribute scaling makes her pretty good at applying status ailments, so these are the weapons she should be prioritizing. Revenant’s Strength and Dexterity are equally mediocre, and this might suggest to you that you can use anything with her. This is only partially true. Due to her low Stamina, Revenant should focus on lighter weapons that don’t consume too much Stamina with every attack.

Below you’ll find a table of weapons that scale well with Faith or deal innate status ailments, and are a good fit for Revenant. Her starting weapon is on the list because it’s a fist weapon with attack range greater than most Greatswords. With upgrades it can deal some impressive damage from a safe distance.

Upgrade to Rare/Epic*

*Rare upgrade requires Smithing Stone [1], Epic needs Smithing Stone [2]

  • Any fast status ailment weapon, preferably upgraded to Epic with Smithing Stones

When exploring locations during an expedition, these locations can have certain affinities. Weapons looted in these locations tend to have effects associated with that affinity. So in a Blood Loss location, you’ll be fighting Blood Loss-themed enemies and getting Blood Loss-themed loot. If you can find a good quick weapon enchanted with a status ailment like this, you might want to use it.

Many of the legendary weapons found in the game actually scale with Faith and as such are good for Revenant. These weapons are rare and you shouldn’t rely on finding them, but if you do, you’ll be able to get some good use out of them. Some great legendary weapon options include:

  • Sword of Night and Flame
  • Eclipse Shotel
  • Giant’s Red Braid
  • Blood Blade
  • Bloody Slash
  • Chilling Mist
  • Poisonous Mist
  • Golden Vow

When playing as Revenant, you’ll generally have a Sacred Seal in your off-hand. You’ll be spending most of your FP on incantations from your seal. This doesn’t leave a lot of room for weapon skills. Still, there are some skills out there you might want to use. Especially when they apply good status ailments or buff your team.

Here are some great Sacred Seal options for Revenant:

When choosing a seal for Revenant, remember that they can have wildly different incantations from what you get in the Training Grounds. Because of that, pay less attention to the individual seal and more to the spells it has and its incantation scaling.

If you’re unsure where to find Sacred Seals, you should head to the Great Church locations. These have a nice chance to drop seals in general, but you’ll also find tunnels underneath them with altars that guarantee you several Sacred Seals to choose from.

  • Discus of Light
  • Lightning Spear
  • Black Flame
  • Frozen Lightning Spear

A strong spell that doesn’t cost too much FP. It can hit groups of enemies by passing right through its target and then returning to you, dealing its damage twice.

Having access to Lightning damage is crucial on certain fights, and Lightning Spear is just a great spell in general. It has range, damage, and the ability to charge it for even more damage.

Black Flame is a great fire spell that deals additional damage over time based on the target’s maximum HP. You shouldn’t prioritize it for Revenant because of its limited range compared to the other options mentioned above. And ideally, Revenant should be able to deal a lot of percentage-based damage from up-close with her melee attacks.

You will only ever see Frozen Lightning Spear as the heavy-attack spell on some rare Sacred Seals. When you do get a chance to obtain this spell, be sure to do so. It deals incredible damage in a decent area and applies Frostbite to its targets. If you manage to get it, your damage will go through the roof.

Best:

  • Improved Incantations
  • Improved Dodging
  • Less Likely to Be Targeted
  • FP Restoration Upon Successive Attacks
  • Successive Attacks Improve Attack Power – when you have FP restoration

Secondary Options:

  • Improved Charged Incantations
  • Improved Item Discovery
  • Reduced Spell & Incantation FP Cost
  • Improved Sorcery & Incantation Casting Speed
  • Improved Flask HP Restoration

Your main goals when picking passive effects include increasing your survivability and making sure you have at least some way to regenerate FP. And if you can get it early, Improved Item Discovery is great to get more chances for better items and passives.

When gathering loot, keep in mind that most passives work even when you’re not actively using that item. So if you find a weapon that you’ll never use but it has some good effect like Less Likely to be Targeted, make sure to grab it anyway.
