Night Lords – Elden Ring: Nightreign

Night Lords are the ultimate challenge at the end of any given run in Elden Ring: Nightreign. These new, powerful bosses are the most formidable opponents you will face in the game, and their deadly, designed-for-co-op movesets will demand either tight cooperation with your team, or exceptional skill alone. Thankfully, we’ve put together this guide to help you learn more about these dangerous Night Lords, and to walk you through how to best defeat them.

Night Lords should be seen as the “final boss” of any given Nightreign Expedition. Before you begin an Expedition, you select one of the Night Lords based on their Expedition Title (for instance, Gladius, Beast of Knight has the Expedition Title “Tricephalos”). This determines which Night Lord you will face during Day 3 to finish out the Expedition, and can give you an idea of what equipment you might need to face it.

Each Night Lord has an Affinity that it is weakest against, and Armaments that deal that type of damage will be much more effective. It is usually good to organize your routing on Day 1 and 2 around the Night Lord’s weakness.

As for the Night Lords themselves, they are the most difficult enemies in Elden Ring: Nightreign. Unlike many other bosses in Nightreign, who have been simply reused from previous From Software titles and adjusted, these massive bosses have been built from the ground up for co-op play, with moves that force you to either make use of good teamwork and communication, or to possess exceptional skill if you are taking them on solo.

When you are just starting out, you must face each Night Lord in order so that you can unlock the next one, making the primary reward for each Night Lord the first time you defeat them the ability to fight the next one in sequence. In addition, any time you defeat Night Lords you will be given better Relics and more Murk to spend back in the Roundtable Hold.

In general, we recommend fighting each Night Lord in order for your first playthrough of Elden Ring: Nightreign before moving on to the next one. Once you have defeated each Night Lord once, you should select which one to fight based on several factors. Some Nightfarer Remembrances will see you taking on specific Night Lords, but if you don’t have that to guide you, there is no reason not to select your foe based on personal preference.
